Unpacking the Gear: Captain Luke Donald’s Ryder Cup Roster

When it comes to the Ryder Cup, there’s no shortage of excitement, rivalry, and jaw-dropping talent on display. Whether you’re a huge golf fan or just getting into the game, checking out the What’s In The Bag (WITB) for each player is a highlight! We’re diving into the gear used by some of the star players in Captain Luke Donald’s squad. Let’s kick things off by looking at all the shiny clubs, balls, and putters that these professionals trust to bring home the cup!

Rory McIlroy’s Setup

Rory McIlroy, a name synonymous with golf greatness! Rory’s driver is the TaylorMade Qi10 set at a fierce 9 degrees with a Fujikura Ventus Black 6 X shaft. This bad boy is engineered for speed and accuracy, which is just Rory’s style.

Moving on to his 3-wood, he’s got another TaylorMade Qi10 but at 15 degrees. The same Fujikura Ventus Black shaft keeps everything consistent. And let’s not forget about his trusty 5-wood!

When you’re as precise as Rory, you need the best irons, don’t you think? He uses a mix of TaylorMade P760 for the 4-iron and Rors Proto for 5-9, paired with Project X 7.0 shafts. Super reliable!

Now, onto the wedges. McIlroy rolls with TaylorMade MG5 in various lofts – 46, 50, 54, and 60 degrees. They have shafts from Project X too. Finally, his number one partner on the greens? The TaylorMade Spider Tour X putter, of course! Oh, and he plays the TaylorMade TP5 ball for that perfect feel around the course.

Robert MacIntyre’s Wardrobe

Now let’s chat about Robert MacIntyre, the rising star. He leans on the Titleist TSR2 driver set at 9 degrees, with a Graphite Design Tour AD DI 7 X shaft for those consistent drives.

For his fairway wood, MacIntyre opts for the TaylorMade AeroBurner at 15 degrees, boasting a Mitsubishi Tensei AV Raw White 85 TX shaft. His hybrid is the TaylorMade Stealth 2 Rescue at 19 degrees, showcasing the same Graphite Design shaft that he loves.

When it comes to irons, he sports Titleist 620 CB for 4-9, backed by True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 shafts. As for wedges, he trusts Titleist Vokey SM10 and SM9 models, giving him the spin and control needed for tricky shots.

His putter? Another TaylorMade Spider Tour X, since why not stick with what works? For balls, he opts for the Titleist Pro V1, renowned for its feel and consistency.

Tommy Fleetwood’s Tools

Tommy Fleetwood makes his mark with the TaylorMade Qi35 driver at a generous 10.5 degrees, paired with the Fujikura Ventus TR Blue 6 X shaft. Consistency is key, right?

For some versatility, he adds the TaylorMade R7 Quad mini driver at 13.5 degrees with the same Fujikura shaft. The 5-wood and 9-wood, both from TaylorMade’s Qi series, also feature Mitsubishi Kuro Kage shafts, ensuring he can tackle any course layout.

Fleetwood’s iron play comes from TaylorMade P7TW (5-PW) using Project X 6.5 shafts. To add some finesse, he leans on TaylorMade Hi-Toe 4 for 52, and MG5 for 56 and 60 degrees. His putter is the TaylorMade Spider Tour Black, equipped with a SuperStroke Mid Slim 2.0 grip to help him stay steady on the greens.

Finally, for those signature finishes, he rolls with the TaylorMade TP5x Pix ball — because a little flair doesn’t hurt!

Justin Rose’s Gear Choice

In the bag of Justin Rose, we find the Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond Max driver set at 9 degrees and paired with a Mitsubishi Diamana WB 63 TX shaft, designed for optimized spin rates.

If he’s looking to dominate the fairways, the TaylorMade R7 Quad mini driver is also in the bag. For longer approach shots? The TaylorMade M6 5-wood is his weapon of choice!

When it gets down to the nitty-gritty with irons, he relies on Titleist 620 CB (4-6) and Miura MC-502 (7-PW), using KBS C-Taper 125 shafts for maximum feel. Wedges are easy to maneuver with Titleist Vokey SM10 and WedgeWorks. To finish off the job on the greens, he uses the Scotty Cameron Phantom 5 Tour Prototype putter that has him sinking putts with style.

On the course, you’ll catch him using the 2025 Titleist Pro V1x, a reliable choice that has made its mark worldwide.

Rasmus Højgaard’s Equipment

Next up is Rasmus Højgaard, who swings the Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond driver at 10.5 degrees, with a Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Blue 60 TX shaft for maximum drive power.

When it comes to fairway woods, he utilizes the Callaway Elyte Diamond 3-wood, delivering a sleek 15-degree loft with a Graphite Design Tour AD VF 8 TX shaft. The Callaway X Forged UT iron for the 2-club is nice, but even better is his Callaway X Forged for 4-PW, all with KBS $-Taper 130 shafts.

With wedges, he’s rocking the Callaway Opus Raw so he can kick up some serious spin around the greens. For putting? His weapon of choice is the Odyssey Ai One Milled Eight T DB — reliable and smooth.

Højgaard completes his setup with Golf Pride MCC grips, holding it all together while he lifts the Srixon Z-Star XV ball round by round.

Tyrrell Hatton’s Selection

Tyrrell Hatton has a killer setup starting with the Ping G430 LST driver, which is adjustable to 10.5 degrees. He chose the Mitsubishi Diamana TB 60 TX shaft to give him that extra push.

For the fairway, the Ping G440 Max 3-wood awaits, again showing off Mitsubishi’s expert craftsmanship with a TB 70 TX shaft. When he needs to get a bit more height, his Ping G430 Max 7-wood at 21 degrees is a classic go-to.

Hatton’s iron choice is Ping i240 (4-6) and Ping Blueprint S (7-PW) using Nippon N.S. Pro Modus3 Tour 120 X shafts for precise strikes.

His finishing touches? A reliable Ping S159 wedges set (50, 54, 60 degrees) that keeps him accurate, while the Ping PLD Oslo Prototype putter takes care of his short game.

His Golf Pride MC Plus 4 grips make everything feel just right, and he rounds it off with the Titleist Pro V1x ball that stays true to its reputation.

Shane Lowry’s Setup

Shane Lowry’s approach is all about precision with his Srixon ZXi LS+ driver set to 9 degrees and a Mitsubishi Diamana D+ White 70 TX shaft. That’s a combo that delivers distance!

For those long-range shots, he uses the TaylorMade Qi35 5-wood with a Graphite Design Tour AD DI 8 X shaft. Lowry’s iron set features Srixon ZXi Utility and ZXi5/7 mixed models, ensuring he’s covered for all distances.

His wedge game is powered up with a Cleveland RTZ Tour Rack lineup, giving Hatton that extra spin and control on greens. And to finish it all, the TaylorMade Spider Tour Z putter alongside Golf Pride Tour Velvet grips give him the right feel.

Completing his game is the Srixon Z-Star XV ball, providing that competitive edge he always seeks.

Sepp Straka’s Gear

Sepp Straka is rolling with a Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond Max driver, set to 9 degrees with a Fujikura Ventus VeloCore Blue 6 X shaft. Those long drives are a far cry from the average!

For his fairway needs, he wields the Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond 3-wood at 15 degrees, paired with a Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Red 70 TX shaft. When he needs a little extra, he’s got a Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond 7-wood to get him to the green.

Straka’s irons include Srixon ZXi5 and ZXi7 series aimed at precision hitting. He finishes off his setup with Cleveland RTZ wedges so he can make those finesse shots with style.

For putting, he trusts an Odyssey Tuttle Stroke Lab putter, featuring a SuperStroke grip. And, of course, the workhorse Srixon Z-Star XV ball keeps everything consistent.

Ludvig Åberg’s Bag

Next in line is Ludvig Åberg, armed with a Titleist TSR2 driver set at 9 degrees with a Fujikura Ventus Black shaft. It’s all about that performance!

He also sport a TaylorMade Stealth 2 series 3-wood and 7-wood, boasting 15 and 21 degrees, respectively — both with high-performance Fujikura shafts.

Åberg’s iron collection is impressive with Titleist T100 for 4-PW, giving him flexibility across all distances with KBS Tour 130 shafts. He also rolls with a set of Vokey Design SM10 wedges which are truly the icing on the cake for his short game.

The Odyssey Ai-One #1 putter helps him conquer the greens while he opts for Golf Pride MCC grips to ensure feel.

In terms of the ball, you guessed it, it’s the reliable Titleist Pro V1x.

Viktor Hovland’s Choices

Last but not least, Viktor Hovland’s setup starts strong with the Ping G425 LST driver at 9 degrees, featuring a Fujikura Speeder 661 TR X shaft.

When he needs to find those tight lines, the TaylorMade Sim Ti 3-wood delivers with a Fujikura Ventus Black 7 X shaft. His iron collection shows off both Ping iDi for the 3-iron and Ping i210 for 4-PW with KBS as his trusty partner.

To finish off, the Ping s159 and Glide 2.0 wedges provide that extra spin around the greens while he uses the Ping PLD DS 72 Prototype putter.

Wrapping it all up, Hovland uses the Titleist Pro V1 ball, known for its consistency and performance.
