The Golfweek Senior National event at Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina, features Pinehurst native Stephen Fox leading the super senior division with a three-shot lead after 36 holes. Fox, who also won the Gateway Senior Invitational earlier this year, opened the tournament with a strong 3-under 69, followed by an even-par 72 on the second day. Fox has a history of success at the North & South Senior Amateur at Pinehurst, finishing in the top 5 the past two years and winning in 2019 and 2020.

In the senior division, Trent Gregory of Wake Forest, North Carolina, leads with a score of 2 over, closely followed by Michael Arasin and Brett Allen at 4 over. Kevin VandenBerg of New York, who was named Golfweek’s Senior Player of the Year in 2023, is in fourth place at 5 over. Dub Huckabee of Midland, Texas, is Fox’s closest competitor in the super senior division, currently tied for second place at even par.

Defending champion Bob Edens of Columbia, South Carolina, is tied for eighth in the senior division. Charley Yandell of Cashiers, North Carolina, leads the legend division at 3 over, while Johnny Blank of Frostburg, Maryland, is at the top of the super legend division with a score of 9 over. The competition at Grandover Resort is fierce, with players from across the country showcasing their skills on the challenging course.

As the U.S. Open returns to Pinehurst Resort, the Golfweek Senior National serves as a fitting prelude, with Fox demonstrating his dominance in the super senior division. With a strong showing in the tournament, Fox looks to add another victory to his impressive career, which includes wins at the North & South Senior Amateur and other prestigious events. The competition is fierce, with players from various states vying for the title against the backdrop of North Carolina’s picturesque golf courses.

The Grandover Resort in Greensboro provides the perfect setting for the Golfweek Senior National, with challenging course conditions and beautiful scenery. Players like Fox, Gregory, and Yandell showcase their skills on the course, navigating through difficult holes and showcasing their golfing abilities. The event attracts senior amateur golfers from across the country, bringing together a diverse and competitive field for a thrilling tournament.

With Fox leading the super senior division and other players close behind in the senior, legend, and super legend divisions, the Golfweek Senior National promises intense competition and exciting golf action. As the tournament unfolds, spectators can expect to witness some impressive shots, strategic gameplay, and passionate performances from the participants. The event highlights the talent and dedication of senior amateur golfers, who continue to excel in their sport and inspire others with their passion for the game.
