Pinehurst No. 2 is the iconic host of this week’s U.S. Open, one of the most prestigious events in golf. This course, located in Pinehurst, N.C., is known for its challenging design that includes sandy waste areas and tricky putting greens. Despite its difficulty, Pinehurst No. 2 is a public course that welcomes all golfers to experience its unique layout. Ranked 21st on GOLF’s Top 100 Courses in the World list, 12th in the U.S., and 2nd on the best public courses list, Pinehurst No. 2 offers a bucket-list experience for any golf enthusiast.

The Donald Ross design of Pinehurst No. 2 takes players through longleaf pines and sandy waste areas without traditional rough. The crowned Bermuda greens can be particularly troublesome, as any slight mistake can lead to balls rolling off the edges and into difficult runoff areas. Golfers have a variety of options to approach these challenging greens, but precision and skill are essential to navigate the slopes and contours effectively. Despite the daunting nature of the course, Pinehurst No. 2 remains an enticing destination for golfers looking for a memorable round of golf.

Playing Pinehurst No. 2 is not a straightforward process, as the course is part of the larger Pinehurst Resort that includes 10 courses and the nine-hole Cradle short course. To play Pinehurst No. 2, golfers are required to stay on the property for a minimum of two nights, with the greens fee bundled with accommodations, meals, and additional tee times. Various packages are available, including one that offers unlimited golf on multiple courses, lodging, and meals for a package price ranging from $3,002 to $3,530 per person. Additionally, a reservationist at Pinehurst Resort noted that tee times for the course may require a surcharge if not included in the package.

In terms of pricing, Pinehurst No. 2 is considered one of the most expensive public tee times in the world. A standalone tee time for the course can cost around $470, with additional charges for peak-season rounds and caddie fees. Despite the cost, golfers are drawn to the allure of playing on such a historic and challenging course. Pinehurst Resort offers various stay-and-play packages that cater to different preferences and budgets, allowing golfers to customize their experience at the resort and play multiple courses during their stay.

For golfers interested in experiencing Pinehurst No. 2 and the other courses at the resort, there are resources available on the Pinehurst Resort website. Information about tee times, pricing, and stay-and-play packages can be found on the website, providing golfers with the necessary details to plan their visit. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer looking for a challenge or a casual player seeking a memorable golf trip, Pinehurst Resort and its renowned courses offer something for everyone. Don’t miss the opportunity to play at one of the world’s top golf destinations and create lasting memories on the links.
