Ally Ewing came close to qualifying for the Olympics during the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship but just missed the cutoff, finishing tied for fifth place. The Olympic Golf Rankings determine the field for the event, with countries allowed up to two representatives unless they have more than two players in the top 15. The U.S. and South Korea will each field three players, with Nelly Korda, Lilia Vu, and Rose Zhang representing the Americans. Jin Young Ko, Hyo Joo Kim, and Amy Yang will represent South Korea.

Meanwhile, Miyu Yamashita earned her way into the field with a T-2 finish, moving her to world No. 19. The women’s competition will take place from Aug. 7-10, shortly after the men’s contest concludes at Le Golf National, which hosted the 2018 Ryder Cup. Celine Boutier and Perrine Delacour will represent France on their home turf in the competition.

The previous Olympic Games in golf saw Nelly Korda, Mone Inami, and Lydia Ko take home the gold, silver, and bronze medals respectively. While Inami did not qualify this year, Ko will once again represent New Zealand in the competition. A total of 60 competitors from various countries will be vying for medals at the upcoming Olympics, with top-ranked players like Nelly Korda, Yuka Saso, and Ruoning Yin participating.

Some of the other notable players participating in the event include Brooke Henderson and Alena Sharp from Canada, Charley Hull and Georgia Hall from Great Britain, and Jin Young Ko from South Korea. The competition promises to be intense with players from different countries showcasing their skills on the golf course. Fans can expect thrilling matchups and a display of top-level talent during the women’s golf event at the Olympics.

The field for the Olympics was finalized after the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, using the Rolex Women’s Golf Rankings to determine the rankings. The competition will feature players from various countries, all aiming to secure a medal for themselves and their nation. With the stakes high and the competition fierce, fans can look forward to exciting golf action and memorable moments during the upcoming Olympics women’s golf event.

Players like Nelly Korda, Jin Young Ko, and Celine Boutier have already proven themselves on the international stage and will be looking to add an Olympic medal to their list of achievements. The Olympics provide a unique opportunity for golfers to represent their countries on a global platform and compete against the best in the world. As the countdown to the women’s golf event at the Olympics begins, all eyes will be on the players as they vie for glory and the chance to etch their names in the history books of the sport.
