Kevin Harman’s TaylorMade Spider OS CB putter was crafted by the same club designer who made Jack Nicklaus’ MacGregor Response ZT 615, providing added stability at impact. Harman, a high-profile player, has won two of his three tournaments with the oversized putter in hand. Harman’s preference for larger high-MOI, face-balanced putters has remained unchanged for several years due to the effective job they do in straightening his putts.

Harman recently switched to Titleist’s GT2 driver after using the TSi2 for four years. The GT2 driver produced tighter launch and spin differentials on mishits, leading to Harman’s decision to make the change. The transition to GT2 resulted in a second-place finish for Harman at the Travelers Championship, showcasing his improved driving performance with the new club. Harman joins a list of players who have recently switched to the GT driver lineup.

Despite the common trend of pros frequently changing equipment, Harman’s TS2 fairway woods are six years old, a rare occurrence at the tour level. The exceptional comfort and performance of the fairway woods have led Harman to stick with them, a sentiment shared by many professionals who prioritize consistency in their equipment choices. Harman’s 3-wood also features a Fujikura Speeder 661 Evolution II S shaft from 2016, further showcasing his trust in older equipment that continues to deliver reliable results.

With the traditional 3-iron being largely replaced by high-lofted fairway woods, utility irons, and hybrids on tour, Harman carries three Titleist U500 utility irons (3-5) to maximize forgiveness and consistency in his long game. Opting not to add a U500 6-iron, Harman highlights the benefits of using utility irons for improved performance, particularly on off-center hits. The versatility of utility irons allows players like Harman to navigate various course setups with added confidence.

Harman’s clubs have undergone an SST Pure analysis, denoted by the “P” sticker below his Golf Pride Tour Velvet grip, ensuring the shafts are oriented for optimal performance. The SST Pure process aims to eliminate variations caused by manufacturing imperfections, leading to tighter dispersions and enhanced consistency in each club’s performance. Harman joins a list of professional players who have benefitted from the SST Pure process, including Tiger Woods, Justin Thomas, and Bryson DeChambeau.

Harman’s attention to detail extends to small adjustments like adding a strip of lead tape to the cavity of his 620 CB 6-iron, making subtle alterations to the club’s feel and center of gravity. The minimal addition of lead tape allows Harman to customize his clubs without major changes to the overall build, highlighting his commitment to fine-tuning his equipment for optimal performance. Harman’s dedication to small improvements reflects the meticulous approach taken by professionals in ensuring their gear meets their exacting standards.
