Bernhard Langer, one of Europe’s most successful golfers, is preparing for his 513th and final DP World Tour appearance at the BMW International Open in Germany. Born just 60 miles from Golfclub Munich Eichenried, Langer has more than 120 professional wins to his name, including two Masters championships and being the first-ever World No.1 in men’s golf. He is one of only five players to have won events on all six continents where golf is played, with three PGA Tour titles and 42 European Tour victories. Langer has since transitioned to senior golf circuits where he holds the record for the most senior Major championships and over 50 titles.
Langer, now 66 years old, underwent Achilles surgery earlier in the year after a pickleball accident. While he is not fully retiring this week, he is closing a 50-year chapter of competing on the European and DP World Tour. Playing alongside Italian Open winner Marcel Siem and fellow German golfer Marten Kaymer, Langer knows the next few days will be emotional.
