Review of the New Level 480-TC Irons

New Level is a golf club brand that has been around for almost six years but continues to fly under the radar. Despite this, they have multiple tour pros playing their irons and produce beautifully crafted forged irons at a fraction of the cost of larger manufacturers. The brand offers two new irons for 2024, including the 480-TC irons, which I had the opportunity to review to see who should be gaming them this season.

The New Level 480-TC irons have a traditional clean look at address with a thin top line, a compact head with a rounded toe, and a linear leading edge that resembles a blade at setup. Each iron in the bag stands out with a removable weight screw in the middle of its cavity, adding a unique feature not seen on many other irons. The branding on the irons is minimal, with the “NL” logo and “480-TC” etched in the back of each iron, giving them a sleek and stylish appearance.

Compared to similar irons in this category, the 480-TC irons have very minimal offset, making them perfect for players who want the look of a blade with a little extra help. The irons have a feel that matches their crafted design, with a low “snap” at impact near the sweet spot and a different “clack” for mishits. The irons sit between a blade and a cavity back iron, providing feedback and forgiveness for better players.

The New Level 480-TC irons offer a phenomenal performance, with traditionally lofted irons starting with a 46-degree pitching wedge. The forging process used by New Level produces soft-feeling irons that are consistent and offer control and workability. The weight port in the irons helps dial in swing weight and provides club fitters with more options to adjust the club’s performance.

The wider sole of the 480-TC irons allows the club to get through the turf easily, making them forgiving even on less than perfect swings. The irons are suitable for mid to low handicap players who have a decent amount of club head speed to experience their full benefits. Priced at $149 per club, the 480-TC irons offer great value compared to similar irons in this category, with a wide range of no up-charge shaft options available.

In conclusion, the New Level 480-TC irons have the look and design of a blade with ultra-soft feel and impressive performance. These compact players irons are suitable for a variety of golfers in 2024, offering consistent control, forgiveness, and value for players looking to elevate their game. With their unique features and competitive pricing, the 480-TC irons are a standout option for golfers seeking high-quality irons without breaking the bank.
