The 2024 Olympic golf event for men is set to begin on Thursday, August 1st at Le Golf National, and French pro Matthieu Pavon is our long-shot pick to win gold. With odds of +6,600, Pavon is considered the best French golfer alive and has been in fine form this season, capturing his first PGA Tour victory at the Farmers Insurance Open and following it up with a third-place finish at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. A T12 at the Masters and a top 5 at the U.S. Open further prove Pavon’s game is strong, making him a deserving long-shot pick for Olympic gold.

Pavon’s home-country advantage in Paris, where this year’s Olympics are being held, adds extra motivation for him to perform well at Le Golf National. Other honorable mentions for long-shot bets at the Olympics include Jason Day with +5,000 odds and Adrian Meronk with +6,000 odds. If you bet $10 on Pavon and he wins gold, you stand to earn $660, making him an exciting pick to root for in this year’s tournament.

The favorites for the Olympic men’s golf event include World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler at +400 odds-to-win, defending gold medalist Xander Schauffele at +550, and Rory McIlroy representing Ireland at +850. Collin Morikawa, Jon Rahm, and Ludvig Aberg follow closely behind in the top odds rankings. The full list of top 15 and ties for betting odds can be found on BetMGM, allowing fans to explore their options and make informed decisions when placing their bets.

The Olympic golf event presents an exciting opportunity for players to showcase their skills and compete for the prestigious gold medal. With a mix of favorites and long-shot contenders, fans can expect an intense competition at Le Golf National. Whether it’s Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, or an underdog like Matthieu Pavon, each player has a chance to make history and etch their name in Olympic golf lore. Stay tuned for updates, analysis, and coverage of the 2024 Olympic men’s golf event on GOLF.com.
