Keegan Bradley, newly appointed captain of the 2025 U.S. Ryder Cup team, has accepted an invitation from current U.S. Presidents Cup captain, Jim Furyk, to join him as an assistant at the upcoming Presidents Cup at Royal Montreal. This move comes shortly after Bradley was named to lead the U.S. team at Bethpage State Park in 2023, marking his first time in a leadership role in either the Ryder Cup or Presidents Cup.
Jim Furyk expressed his excitement about adding Bradley to his staff, noting the energy and experience he brings to the table. With Bradley’s recent appointment to the Ryder Cup team, Furyk sees the benefit of having synergy between the U.S. teams in consecutive years. Bradley, in turn, expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity, stating that he is looking forward to gaining valuable experience in the team room and understanding how coaching and camaraderie contribute to the players’ performance.
In addition to Bradley, Furyk had previously named Stewart Cink, Justin Leonard, and Kevin Kisner as U.S. assistant captains for the Presidents Cup. Despite his new role as an assistant, Bradley remains eligible to compete against the International Team at Royal Montreal, as he currently ranks 17th in the U.S. points standings. The top six players automatically qualify for the team, with Furyk having six wildcard picks to complete the roster.
Furyk also expressed his desire to involve Tiger Woods in the event, possibly as a fifth assistant. While acknowledging Woods’ busy schedule, Furyk stated that he would like to have him be a part of the team in some capacity. The U.S. team has a strong track record in the Presidents Cup, leading the series 12-1-1 and winning the last nine consecutive matches after a tie in 2003. With the addition of Bradley and potentially Woods, Furyk hopes to continue this winning streak and maintain a strong presence in the upcoming competition.
