Dewi Weber, a Dutch golfer, was snubbed by her own country’s Olympic Committee for not meeting their extra qualification rules, despite qualifying through Official World Golf Rankings and Rolex Rankings. The federation only sent one golfer, Anne Van Dam, to the Paris Games, leaving Weber feeling disappointed and overlooked. However, Weber is proving them wrong with her outstanding performance at the LPGA’s Portland Classic, where she currently holds the lead after two rounds.

Weber, ranked 336th in the world, shot a bogey-free 62 in the second round of the Portland Classic, giving her a two-shot lead over Andrea Lee. Despite the snub from the Olympics, Weber is focused on proving her worth on the golf course. She acknowledges the disappointment of being excluded from the Games but is determined to show that she belongs on the LPGA Tour full-time. Weber’s strong performance in Portland is not only a display of her golfing skills but also a way for her to make a statement about her abilities as a professional golfer.

Having played primarily on the Epson Tour this season, Weber has shown consistent performance with four top-10 finishes and stands 20th in the Race for the Card rankings. Her participation in the LPGA’s Portland Classic was a result of other players skipping the event to prepare for the Olympics, giving Weber an opportunity to showcase her skills on a bigger stage. While she understands that the Olympics chapter is closed for her, Weber is using the motivation from the snub to push herself to excel in her golf career.

Despite the disappointment and frustration of being excluded from the Olympics, Weber remains focused on her performance and goals at the Portland Classic. She emphasizes her desire to show that she belongs on the LPGA Tour and is capable of competing at the highest level of professional golf. Weber’s determination and drive to succeed in the face of adversity are evident in her play at the Portland Classic, where she leads the field and aims to make a strong statement about her skills and talent as a golfer.

As Dewi Weber continues to excel at the Portland Classic and showcase her abilities on the golf course, she is determined to prove her worth as a professional golfer. The snub from the Olympics has fueled her motivation to succeed and demonstrate that she belongs on the LPGA Tour. Despite the disappointment of being excluded from the Games, Weber remains focused on her goals and is using the experience as a catalyst for her career. Her performance at the Portland Classic reflects her talent and determination to succeed in the face of challenges and setbacks, highlighting her potential as a rising star in the world of professional golf.
