Lydia Ko finds inspiration in Simone Biles at the 2024 Paris Olympics

Lydia Ko, the two-time Olympic medalist, recently made headlines by deleting her Instagram account in a move to avoid distractions as she competes in what could potentially be her last Olympics. At 27 years old, Ko is aiming to complete her medal set with a gold in Paris and secure a spot in the LPGA Hall of Fame. With her spare time, Ko has turned to watching the Simone Biles documentary and taking notes, finding inspiration in Biles’ vulnerability and success.

Ko has always been focused on determining her own fate, whether it be in her rounds, seasons, or overall career. Prior to her full-time LPGA career, Ko stated that she wouldn’t compete past the age of 30. If Ko were to win gold and qualify for the Hall of Fame, this season could potentially be her last on the LPGA tour. Going into the final round of the tournament, Ko finds herself in a share of the lead with Morgane Metraux, a lesser-known player who has never won on the LPGA tour.

Regardless of the outcome of the tournament, Ko’s next steps will be her own decision, especially if she ends up with a coveted gold medal at Le Golf National. Ko has previously found inspiration in Mardy Fish’s Netflix documentary, which she watched earlier this year when she won the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions. Looking ahead to what could be a historic and inspirational Saturday, Ko is excited to embrace the moment and focus on her performance.

After the tournament concludes, Ko will have the opportunity to resume scrolling through Instagram and engaging with her followers. However, for now, her focus remains on her performance on the golf course and achieving her goals. By removing distractions like social media, Ko is able to fully commit herself to her game and push towards her ultimate aspirations of winning gold and solidifying her place in the LPGA Hall of Fame. As she navigates these pivotal moments in her career, Ko’s determination and focus remain unwavering.
