Joe Highsmith Breaks PGA Tour Season Hole-In-One Record at Wyndham Championship

Joe Highsmith made history during the Wyndham Championship by becoming the first PGA Tour player to secure three holes-in-one in a single season. The left-handed player, who turned pro in 2022 and earned PGA Tour status through the Korn Ferry Tour, achieved this feat during round two of the tournament at Sedgefield Country Club. Highsmith’s most recent ace came at the 12th hole, where his tee shot rolled in from the center of the green. This remarkable accomplishment followed his previous hole-in-ones at the American Express and Rocket Mortgage Classic earlier in the season.

Highsmith’s consistent performance with aces also helped him make the cut at the tournament, despite facing challenges in his debut season at the top level. With seven cuts made out of 19 starts, Highsmith currently sits 158th in the FedEx Cup standings. Reacting to his achievement, the 24-year-old, who claims to have 18 career aces, expressed his excitement at being the first player on record to achieve three holes-in-one in a season. Highsmith acknowledged the uniqueness of this accomplishment and the significance of holding a record in the golf world.

During the same tournament, another player, Lucas Glover, also recorded an ace at the 12th hole. However, Glover did not make the cut and will not be participating in the final rounds of the competition. The Wyndham Championship faced disruptions due to Tropical Storm Debby, with the tournament yet to complete round two on Sunday morning. The PGA Tour made efforts to expedite the tournament by allowing players to continue without re-grouping between rounds three and four. This initiative aims to ensure that the champion could be crowned within the weekend, even with the potential of playing almost 40 holes in a short span of time.

As the tournament progresses, golf enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the outcome of the Wyndham Championship, which could see a jam-packed Sunday of golf action. With third-round tee times scheduled and players pushing to complete the rounds efficiently, there is a chance that the final tournament of the regular season may conclude on Sunday night. This creates an exciting atmosphere for players and fans alike as they witness intense competition and potential history-making moments on the course. The unique circumstances of the tournament, coupled with Highsmith’s remarkable achievement, add to the intrigue and excitement surrounding the Wyndham Championship.
