Ram Golf has introduced a new forged blade iron, the Axial, which aims to compete with some of the best blade irons on the market. Priced at £439.99 for a seven-club set (4-PW or 5-GW), the Axial offers premium shaft options from brands such as KBS, True Temper, and UST, as well as high-quality grip choices from Lamkin and Winn. The club features a forged head with CNC milling for a firmer feel, minimal offset, and a small muscle pad to lower the center of gravity and enhance launch. Additionally, the ‘Multi-surface sole’ design improves turf interaction in various conditions.

From a visual standpoint, the Axial Forged iron boasts a premium aesthetic that belies its affordable price tag. The minimalist branding and intricate detailing from the CNC milling machine create a high-end look, and the club’s tidy head profiles provide an appealing address position. The Axial’s playing position is reminiscent of the popular Ping Blueprint S irons, further enhancing its shelf appeal and overall aesthetic.

In terms of performance, the Axial Forged iron delivers strong results in terms of distance and consistency. Tested on grass at Saunton Golf Club with a FullSwing KIT launch monitor and TaylorMade TP5 golf balls, the iron’s strong loft of 31 degrees produces impressive distance output. While the club may feel slightly firmer than other top blade irons, the numbers are consistent and meet expectations. The strong lofts offer the potential for increased distance output, making the Axial a compelling option for players seeking distance and consistency.

Turf interaction with the Axial Forged iron is smooth, enhancing the overall feel of the club. However, the reflective finish of the clubface may cause glare on sunny days, which could be a minor drawback for some players. Despite this, the Axial Forged iron offers excellent value for its price point, providing a strong performance that rivals more expensive competitors. With its combination of great looks, affordability, and consistent performance, the Ram Axial Forged iron proves to be a standout option in the blade iron category.

Overall, the Ram Axial Forged iron stands out as a strong contender in the market, offering a compelling mix of performance, aesthetics, and value. With its premium shaft options, high-quality grips, and innovative design features, the Axial delivers a solid performance on the course and practice ground. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or a newcomer looking to upgrade your equipment, the Axial Forged iron is worth considering for its impressive blend of style and functionality. Ram Golf has made a statement with the Axial, showcasing their dedication to providing top-quality equipment at an affordable price point.
