Selecting the Perfect Size Golf Gloves and Properly Storing Them

In a few years earlier, FootJoy’s Donald Zabkar conducted research and found that 65 percent of golfers are wearing the wrong size glove, potentially affecting their game. While many recreational golfers neglect their gloves, a well-fitting and maintained glove can improve speed, control, and feel. Understanding how gloves should fit and how to care for them is essential for optimal performance.

When it comes to golf gloves, a snug fit is crucial. The perfect glove should fit like a second skin without any excess material bunching up, ensuring a tight connection between your hands and the grip. The fingers of the glove should extend to the tips of your fingers, and the Velcro closure should only require a slight pull to secure. Cadet gloves are available for golfers with shorter fingers and wider palms to ensure a proper fit.

Golf gloves are typically made from natural or synthetic leather, each offering unique benefits. Natural leather gloves, made from Cabretta leather, provide superior feel and touch favored by elite players. On the other hand, synthetic leather gloves are more durable, dry faster, and are often less expensive. Properly storing your golf glove, allowing it to breathe and dry naturally after use, is essential for maintaining its durability and flexibility.

Rain gloves can be a game changer for golfers who play in wet conditions or get sweaty hands. Designed to perform better when wet, rain gloves provide enhanced grip in downpours using synthetic materials like microfiber or mesh. They create friction against the club for a steady grip in wet conditions. Trying out different gloves to find the perfect fit and material, whether natural leather for sensitivity or synthetic leather for durability, is recommended.

Several gloves worth trying include Callaway Fusion, Clinch Tactile, Duca Del Cosma Hybrid Pro, FootJoy StaSof, Palm Wanderer, Ping Sport Tech, and TaylorMade Tour Preferred. By testing out different gloves and considering factors like sensitivity, durability, and cost, golfers can find the ideal glove for their game. Properly fitting and maintaining a golf glove is essential for optimal performance on the course.
