Frankie Capan III, a former college golf player, has set himself a lofty goal for the 2025 PGA Tour season. Despite only having played four times on the PGA Tour and making the cut in half of those, Capan made headlines by shooting a 58 at the Veritex Bank Championship in Texas, beating a course record set by Scottie Scheffler. He also qualified for the US Open for the second consecutive year, finishing in a respectable tie for 41st place. Capan recently earned his PGA Tour card through the Korn Ferry Tour, showcasing the high quality of college golf in America and the competitiveness of the feeder circuit.

Known for his exceptional putting skills, Capan shared his ambitious goal on the podcast “College Golf Talk,” expressing his desire to tee it up at Bethpage Black in the Ryder Cup next fall. Currently ranked 129th in the world, Capan understands the need to perform exceptionally well in the upcoming season to have a chance at making Keegan Bradley’s Ryder Cup team. He believes a strong start to the season and participation in high-level events could help him achieve his goal.

Capan’s confidence is evident in his recent performances, as he recorded three top-five finishes in his final five starts of the season, including a victory at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship. This impressive run earned him a third-place finish on the season-long points list, securing his PGA Tour card for the upcoming season. He is expected to make his debut as a PGA Tour member at the Sony Open in January, giving him a short window to make an impact before the Ryder Cup in September at Bethpage Black.

With his eyes set on the prestigious Ryder Cup, Capan acknowledges the challenge ahead but remains optimistic about his chances. He views the goal of making the Ryder Cup team as a test of his abilities and a significant milestone in his career. Capan’s dedication to the sport and his consistent performance under pressure have positioned him as a rising star to watch in the golfing world. As he prepares to embark on his PGA Tour journey, fans and fellow players alike are eager to see how Capan’s promising career unfolds.
