Hannah Green leads as play is halted at 2024 BMW Ladies Championship

Australia’s Hannah Green leads the BMW Ladies Championship in South Korea with a two-shot advantage, despite play being suspended due to unplayable conditions on Friday. Rain caused standing water on the greens, leading to the suspension of play at 1:05 p.m. local time. The tournament will resume on Saturday at 8 a.m. local time without re-pairing, with the third round set to begin at 9:48 a.m. Green was 4 under through nine holes when play was halted, with South Africa’s Ashleigh Buhai trailing her by two shots. Jenny Shin, Hye-Jin Choi, and Nanna Koerstz Madsen are tied for third place at 8 under.

No player in the field of 78 finished the second round, as several groups were on their final hole when play was suspended. Hannah Green, a two-time winner on tour this season, had taken a break for five weeks after the FM Championship and returned to the tour last week in China. Despite not playing as much in her home country of Australia during her break as she would have liked, Green felt that taking the opportunity to focus on practice rather than playing a practice round paid off during the tournament.

New Zealand’s Lydia Ko, the 2022 BMW Ladies Championship winner, has been on a hot streak with no finishes outside the top 10 in her last six starts worldwide, including three victories. Ko was bogey-free through 13 holes with three birdies when play was suspended. The LPGA’s most recent Hall of Fame inductee also hosted a dinner for LPGA players and staff at the beginning of the week. The competition is heating up as the tournament progresses, with top players vying for the title at the Seowon Valley Country Club in South Korea.

Green and Buhai are expected to continue their battle for the lead when play resumes on Saturday. The 2024 BMW Ladies Championship promises to be an exciting event with the top players showcasing their skills on a challenging course. As the competition intensifies, the golfers will need to stay focused and adapt to the changing weather conditions to maintain their positions on the leaderboard. With the third round set to begin on Saturday morning, fans can expect to witness some thrilling golf action as the players navigate the course and compete for the championship title.
