Bernhard Langer continues to impress at the 2024 Charles Schwab Cup Challenge, holding a one-shot lead after a third-round 4-under 67. The 67-year-old German has had a stellar season, finishing inside the top-25 11 times in 15 starts and looking for his first win since the 2023 U.S. Senior Open. Langer’s strong performance in Arizona has projected him to end the season at No. 7 in the Charles Schwab Cup points list, a significant improvement from his 22nd ranking entering the week.

In the points race, Steven Alker has taken over the top spot with rounds of 70-68-63 and a 12-under total, placing him in second place at the tournament. On the other hand, Ernie Els, the previous No. 1 ranking, has struggled this week and sits at 3 under after three rounds. Stewart Cink, the 36-hole leader, had a tough day with a 4-over 75, landing him in sixth place at 8 under, five shots behind Langer.

Langer’s exceptional performance on the course was highlighted by a beautiful shot on the 16th hole, where he made his fifth birdie of the round. Despite being 67 years old, Langer continues to impress as an ageless wonder in the world of golf. The prize money for the Charles Schwab Cup Challenge is significant, with $528,000 going to the first-place winner, followed by $300,000 for the runner-up, and decreasing amounts for the rest of the top five finishers. Even the 35th place finisher earns a paycheck of $17,250.

The Charles Schwab Cup Championship is awarded to the winner of the tournament, while the Charles Schwab Cup champion is determined by the season-long points race. With strong contenders like Langer, Alker, Els, and Cink vying for the top spots, the competition is fierce and the stakes are high. As the tournament unfolds at Phoenix Country Club in Arizona, golf fans are treated to thrilling moments and remarkable performances from some of the sport’s most esteemed players. Stay tuned as the final round determines who will emerge victorious in the 2024 Charles Schwab Cup Challenge.
