5 Things to Know About the L.A.B. Golf OZ.1 and OZ.1i Putters

L.A.B. Golf has partnered with professional golfer Adam Scott to create their latest putter, the OZ.1. The collaboration between Scott and the company has resulted in the development of the OZ.1 and OZ.1i putters, featuring a half-moon, solid-body construction. This design was a personal goal of Scott’s and is aimed at resonating with world-class golfers while maintaining the performance benefits of Lie Angle Balance. The partnership with Scott provided valuable insights into shape, feel, sound, and performance from one of the most experienced and respected players on the PGA Tour.

One of the key inspirations behind the design of the OZ.1 putter collection was a particular model of a German sports car’s back and the front of a famous mallet putter. While L.A.B. Golf has not disclosed the specific references, the front of the putter bears similarities to the Scotty Cameron Futura broomstick putter that Scott used to win the Masters in 2013. The OZ.1i model is the first putter from L.A.B. Golf to feature an insert, providing a firmer feel and a hotter ball release off the face compared to the one-piece construction of the OZ.1.

L.A.B. Golf is known for its trademark vertical shaft design, which incorporates an onset and forward lean to create a natural press for the player. While this feature is still available in the OZ.1 putters, the company has introduced the option for a vertical shaft lean, allowing for a standard putter grip and aligning with industry trends for zero-torque putter lines. Customers can choose from various customization options for the OZ.1 putters, including preferred length, lie angle, head weight, color, alignment markings, shaft, and grip.

The OZ.1 putter collection offers a range of customization options to suit individual preferences. A special edition honoring Scott’s Australian heritage was released on L.A.B. Golf’s website and quickly sold out. The OZ.1i custom and stock offerings are scheduled for release in December 2024, while the OZ.1 custom and stock models will follow in January 2025. The company is also working on broomstick configurations of the new line, though a specific launch timeline has not been announced. Golfers looking to upgrade their equipment for 2024 can find fitting locations at True Spec Golf to try out the latest OZ.1 putters.
