TaylorMade is set to launch a new Spider Tour X Proto putter, a Tour exclusive that will be available in limited quantities. The putter has a unique design that shifts the center of gravity as far forward as possible while maintaining the True Path Alignment and structural stability of the Spider franchise. The putter was initially tested by Scottie Scheffler during the 2023 FedEx Cup Playoffs and quickly gained interest due to its milled face and lack of adjustable weight ports. The new Spider Tour X Proto will come in a black finish, with options for small slant and L-neck configurations, and will retail for $500.

Scottie Scheffler’s success with the Spider Tour X putter during his impressive seven-win season on the PGA Tour has drawn attention to the prototype putter he briefly used during the FedEx Cup Playoffs. The prototype featured a milled face and hollowed-out sections in place of adjustable weight ports, allowing Scheffler to combine the benefits of the Spider Tour X shape with the blade-like characteristics of his previous putter. TaylorMade’s decision to release a limited quantity of the Spider Tour X Proto last fall was met with surprise and now, they are bringing the putter back with a new black finish.

The new Spider Tour X Proto Black will feature the same design elements as the previous version, with the addition of an all-black finish that extends to the True Path alignment system on the top of the putter. The sightline remains black against the black top to create a striking visual contrast against white golf balls. Golfers looking to upgrade their equipment for the upcoming season can find a fitting location at True Spec Golf to ensure they have the best clubs for their game. The Spider Tour X Proto Black will be available in limited quantities at a retail price of $500, with options for both small slant and L-neck configurations.

Jack Hirsh, the Associate Equipment Editor at GOLF, highlighted the features of the new Spider Tour X Proto Black putter in a recent article. He discussed Scottie Scheffler’s success with the prototype putter and TaylorMade’s decision to release a limited quantity to the public. Jack Hirsh is a Pennsylvania native and a graduate of Penn State University with degrees in broadcast journalism and political science. He has a background in golf, having been captain of his high school golf team and currently serving as the head coach of the program.

Golfers interested in trying out the new Spider Tour X Proto Black putter can purchase it online or at select retail locations. The putter is designed to provide the benefits of the Spider Tour X shape while maintaining the blade-like characteristics preferred by professional golfers like Scottie Scheffler. The new black finish adds a sleek and modern look to the putter, making it a standout choice for players looking to improve their putting game. With limited quantities available, golfers are encouraged to act quickly to secure their own Spider Tour X Proto Black putter before they sell out.
