Bridgestone Golf recently announced the release of their new 220 series irons, which includes the 220 MB, 221 CB, and 222 CB+ models, as well as two forged wedges. On a recent episode of the Fully Equipped podcast, co-host Kris McCormack, a 2-handicap golfer, shared his experience testing the new irons. Despite regularly playing with cavity back irons, McCormack surprisingly found the best results with the muscle back 220 MBs, highlighting the importance of testing different clubs to find the best fit for your game.

In his testing of the Bridgestone 220 MB irons, McCormack was impressed by the consistent ball flight and performance of the clubs. As someone who does not consider himself a great ball striker, McCormack was surprised by the positive results he achieved with the MB irons. He noted that the clubs provided him with improved control, feel, and feedback compared to his current set of irons, which includes Ping i230 long irons. McCormack also mentioned that the Bridgestone irons had a lower launch and spin, which contributed to his ability to shape shots and have more control over his approach shots into the greens.

One of the most notable aspects of McCormack’s experience with the Bridgestone irons was the difference in feel compared to his current set of clubs. He found the Bridgestone irons to be more responsive and provide better feedback, giving him a greater sense of control over his shots. While he was pleased with how the clubs performed in the hitting bay, McCormack emphasized the importance of testing the clubs on the course to assess their turf interaction and overall performance in real-world conditions.

Overall, McCormack’s experience testing the Bridgestone 220 MB irons highlighted the importance of trying out different club models and brands to find the best fit for your game. Just because you have had success with a certain type of club in the past does not mean that it will necessarily be the best option for you in the future. By experimenting with different clubs and paying attention to factors like feel, feedback, and performance, golfers can find the equipment that suits their game and helps them achieve their desired results on the course.
