Review of the TaylorMade Qi35 Max Fairway Wood

The TaylorMade Qi35 Max Fairway Wood is a revolutionary club designed to make striking fairway woods from the ground easier for golfers. With a larger footprint of 200cc compared to other models, the Qi35 Max offers more confidence at address and increased forgiveness. The TSS weighting system and weight at the rear of the club help lower the CG and increase MOI for easier launch.

The aesthetics of the Qi35 Max are on par with the rest of the TaylorMade Qi35 lineup, featuring a beautiful chromium carbon finish. The feel and acoustics of the club are comparable to the core fairway wood model, with a muted ‘thud’ sound that TaylorMade is known for. The club also uses TwistFace technology for added performance.

On the golf course, the Qi35 Max performed solidly, producing high ball flights and steep landing angles. The shallow head design allowed the club to cut through rough and advance the ball nicely. However, controlling spin and trajectory in windy conditions proved to be somewhat challenging for high-speed players.

Indoor launch monitor data revealed that the Qi35 Max had slightly higher spin and launch than the core model, despite possessing half a degree more loft. This resulted in a slight drop in distance but impressed with its consistency in ball flight. The draw-bias design made it perfect for golfers who struggle with a slice.

Overall, the TaylorMade Qi35 Max Fairway Wood proved to be a reliable and versatile club that excels in forgiveness and consistency. Mishits were hardly punished, and the higher spin can help golfers keep the ball in play more often. The club will retail for £309 and will be available for purchase from the 30th of January.
