Brooks Koepka Parts Ways with Coach After Five Major Wins

Brooks Koepka, a successful professional golfer, recently announced his split with coach Claude Harmon III, despite having won five Major titles under Harmon’s guidance. Koepka, who is a member of the LIV Golf circuit, confirmed the split just three weeks before the start of the new season in Riyadh. He mentioned that Pete Cowen and Jeff Pierce will now handle everything golf-related for him, as they are long-term members of his coaching team.

Claude Harmon III has been Koepka’s swing coach since 2013, helping him achieve four Major wins between 2017 and 2019 and multiple stints as the world’s top-ranked golfer. Despite their initial split in 2020, Koepka found success on his own, including a victory at the 2021 WM Phoenix Open. However, after signing with LIV Golf in 2022, he reunited with Harmon and went on to win his first LIV Golf title in Jeddah that year.

In 2023, following a near-miss at The Masters, Koepka, with Harmon’s guidance, clinched his fifth Major title at the PGA Championship at Oak Hill. Despite their successful partnership, Harmon confirmed via text message that they would no longer be working together. Harmon expressed pride in their accomplishments during their time together in 2022, setting the stage for a new chapter in Koepka’s career.

Additionally, Harmon defended Koepka’s decision to join LIV Golf, criticizing the media for undervaluing his talent compared to others in the sport. Harmon emphasized Koepka’s achievements and downplayed the media’s scrutiny of his career choices. As Koepka prepares to kick off the new season on 6 February in Riyadh, he aims to secure his third LIV Golf title in Saudi Arabia, building on his successes in Jeddah in 2022 and the subsequent year.

Despite the split with Harmon, Koepka remains focused on his career and is optimistic about the future with new coaches in place. Cowen and Pierce bring a wealth of experience to the table and will support Koepka in his quest for more victories on the golf course. As he continues to compete at the highest level, Koepka’s fans eagerly anticipate watching him compete in the upcoming season, especially in his pursuit of more Major titles and LIV Golf victories.
