Ping has introduced a new club called the BunkR, designed to help golfers get out of the sand more easily. The BunkR is an extreme version of a lob wedge, featuring Ping’s classic Eye2 wedge shape and full-face MicroMax wedge grooves. The sole is super wide for added forgiveness, with 14.5 degrees of effective bounce. The standard loft on the BunkR is 64 degrees, making it easier for golfers to hit bunker shots from a square-faced position.
One of the unique features of the BunkR is that golfers can use a regular chipping motion to pop the ball out of the bunker, thanks to the extreme bounce and loft of the club. This allows players to avoid the traditional open stance and vertical swing typically used for bunker shots. The BunkR is specifically designed to help beginners and novice golfers who may struggle with proper sand-shot techniques. However, it can also be beneficial for experienced golfers who have difficulty getting out of the sand or play in soft sand conditions.
The Ping BunkR wedge is now available for pre-order and will be released for retail on March 27, 2025. Priced at $195, the BunkR comes stock with a 35-inch length and a Dylawedge grip that is longer than typical grips. This encourages players to grip up to hit certain shots effectively. Whether you are a beginner looking to improve your bunker play or an experienced golfer wanting to add a versatile wedge to your bag, the Ping BunkR could be a valuable addition to your golf equipment collection.
Overall, the Ping BunkR is a high-quality and innovative wedge designed to help golfers of all skill levels improve their bunker play. With its forgiving design, extreme bounce, and loft, the BunkR makes it easier for players to get out of the sand with a regular chipping motion. Whether you are a beginner learning the ropes of bunker shots or an experienced golfer looking for a reliable wedge for soft sand conditions, the BunkR is a versatile and effective club that can enhance your short game performance. Visit a True Spec Golf club-fitting location near you to try out the Ping BunkR and overhaul your bag for a successful 2025 season.
