New Titleist GT280 Mini Driver Takes the Lead in Growing Category

Titleist has recently launched its long-awaited GT280 mini driver, which fills a unique gap in the market for players looking for a club that provides more distance than a 3-wood but less than a traditional driver. This new offering is a part of the company’s expansion into the mini driver category, following the success of its TSR woods line. Several professional players have already switched to the GT280, including Alex Fitzpatrick, who replaced his driver with the new mini driver on the DP World Tour.

The GT280 mini driver features a 280 cc head size, making it the smallest mini driver currently available on the market. Despite its compact size, the club incorporates elements of fairway wood design, including full face grooves and compatibility with standard GT fairway shafts. The club’s design also prioritizes forgiveness and playability off the deck, with a softened sole curvature and a leading edge that sits closer to the ground for improved turf interaction. The GT280 also features a new forged L-Cup insert that helps reduce spin and retain ball speed on low strikes.

In terms of fitting options, the GT280 offers versatility for players looking for different performance characteristics. With adjustable weights and a 16-setting SureFit sleeve, players can customize the club to suit their needs, whether they’re looking for a driver replacement, a forgiving 3-wood, or a reliable tee club. The flippable forward and rear weights allow players to adjust the center of gravity to optimize launch conditions, making the GT280 a versatile option for a variety of player preferences.

One of the standout features of the GT280 is the introduction of Titleist’s Proprietary Matrix Polymer (PMP) material, a departure from traditional metal construction in drivers. This innovative material offers unique benefits in terms of performance and feel, providing players with a distinct experience compared to metal club heads. By incorporating PMP into the GT280, Titleist continues to push the boundaries of club design and technology, offering players new opportunities to improve their game.

Overall, the Titleist GT280 mini driver represents a significant step forward for the brand in the mini driver category. With its combination of compact size, forgiveness, adjustability, and innovative materials, the GT280 appeals to a wide range of players seeking a versatile and reliable club for various situations on the course. Whether players are looking for added distance off the tee or improved playability from the fairway, the GT280 offers a compelling option that delivers on both performance and aesthetics.
