CBS Golf is a Masters tradition that is set to change as former pro golfer and longtime CBS broadcaster Frank Nobilo takes on a new role at the 16th hole at Augusta National. This change comes after the retirement of legendary broadcaster Verne Lundquist, who had been a staple in the CBS Golf broadcast for many years. Nobilo will be just the third broadcaster to fill the position on the par-3 in the last 40 years, showcasing his experience and expertise in both golf as a broadcaster and as a former player.

Nobilo’s new role at the 16th hole is a significant change in the CBS Golf broadcast lineup, as he takes on the duties previously held by Lundquist. With his experience and knowledge of the game, Nobilo is expected to bring great insight and analysis to the iconic hole at Augusta National. His presence in the booth alongside lead play-by-play man Jim Nantz and analyst Trevor Immelman adds to the strength of the CBS Golf broadcast team, providing viewers with top-notch coverage of the Masters.

The par-3 16th hole at Augusta National is not only a historic landmark in golf but also a site of many memorable moments during the Masters. This year, the pin position on the 16th hole has been shifted to a new location, moving away from the traditional Sunday “funnel” pin to a position on the upper righthand portion of the green. This change adds another layer of excitement to the Masters Sunday coverage, with Nobilo being responsible for calling the action from the new location on the 16th hole.

In addition to his role at the 16th hole, Nobilo will also serve as a “tower announcer” above the 11th hole, providing further coverage and insight into the tournament. While Nobilo will no longer be stationed at the par-3 12th hole, the rest of the CBS Golf team remains intact, ensuring a seamless transition in coverage. CBS Sports chairman David Berson praised Nobilo’s contributions to the broadcast team and expressed his excitement for Nobilo’s expanded role at the Masters.

With his expertise in golf and broadcasting, Nobilo has earned the opportunity to take on a more integral role in the latter portion of the Masters coverage. His experience as a player and analyst, as well as his previous work covering Amen Corner, make him a natural fit for the position at the 16th hole. Fans can expect to hear insightful commentary and analysis from Nobilo as he navigates his new role at Augusta National, adding to the legacy of CBS Golf and the Masters tradition.

Overall, the addition of Frank Nobilo to the 16th hole at Augusta National represents a significant change in the CBS Golf broadcast lineup. With his experience and expertise, Nobilo is poised to deliver top-notch coverage of the Masters, providing viewers with valuable insights and analysis throughout the tournament. As the third broadcaster to fill the position in the last 40 years, Nobilo’s presence adds a new dimension to the broadcast, enhancing the overall viewing experience for fans of the Masters and CBS Golf.
