Golf analyst Brandel Chamblee has revealed where Donald Trump shines and struggles on the golf course after playing alongside the president before his re-election.

Trump is regularly found playing 18 holes – even as Commander-in-Chief – and often boasts about winning club championships at his clubs around the country.

He has played with some of the best players in the world, including Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau. And Golf Channel pundit Chamblee also headed out for a round with Trump before his return to the Oval Office.

Chamblee is known for being one of the most honest analysts in golf but he was largely gushing about Trump’s game – particularly off the tee. He did say, however, that the president could improve around the green.

‘President Trump smokes it. Hits it on a line,’ Chamblee told Skip Bayless. The analyst compared the 78-year-old’s swing to former PGA Tour star Bruce Lietzke.

‘He absolutely drives the eyes out of it. He’s not the best chipper, he’s not the best putter, but he drives the eyes out of it and hits a lot of great iron shots.

Brandel Chamblee on this week’s “Skip 1 on 1” discussing President Trump’s golf game:

‘And he loves golf, absolutely loves golf. I brought a friend of mine along, the president couldn’t have been more engaging to everybody in the group.

‘Our wives were there, he asked everybody questions and could speak in great detail about names and shots and golf.’

Chamblee has been one of the most vociferous critics of LIV Golf over recent years, while Trump has regularly held events of the Saudi-backed breakaway at his courses.

‘The whole day, he wanted to talk about LIV, and it was a fascinating day,’ Chamblee recalled.

‘One of the things he said to me, he was very generous: “I know we disagree about LIV but let me just tell you why LIV is going to make it”.

‘He said: “Yasir (Al-Rumayyan), who heads PIF (the Saudi Public Investment Fund), who funds LIV, loves golf more than you do and more than I do. Now that’s hard to believe. But that’s what he said.’
