Mitchell High School Boys Golf Team Shines at Brookings Invitational

The Mitchell High School boys golf team showcased their talents during a competitive round at the Brookings Invitational held at Brookings Country Club on Monday. The event gathered numerous teams that battled it out on a challenging par-72 layout. Notably, Asher Dannenbring excelled, finishing in second place, while his teammate Everett Morrison secured a sixth-place finish, solidifying the team’s commendable performance.

High Competition at Brookings Country Club

The competition was fierce, with the top eight finishing teams achieving scores tightly grouped within just nine strokes. The ultimate champion, Sioux Falls O’Gorman, clinched victory with an impressive score of 295. Mitchell High, alongside Sioux Falls Lincoln, tied for seventh, both teams posting a score of 304. This level of competition underscores the caliber of golfers participating in the event, making it a highlight on the school’s athletic calendar.

Individual Highlights: Dannenbring and Morrison Shine

Asher Dannenbring’s performance was particularly remarkable; he carded a 1-under 71, marked by an incredible six-birdie stretch over six holes. Meanwhile, teammate Everett Morrison maintained a solid game, achieving an even-par 72, which included three birdies and three bogeys.
