Colin Montgomerie, a well-known figure in European golf, has been announced as the host of the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship at Trump International Golf Links, Scotland. This event, which is the flagship tournament of the Legends Tour, is set to take place at the end of July at the Aberdeenshire venue. The previous winner of the event, Peter Baker, claimed victory with a six-shot lead in 2023, showcasing an impressive performance with rounds of 69, 66, 69, and 72.

Montgomerie, who has won the John Jacob’s trophy for the Legends Tour Order of Merit in 2014 and 2015, expressed his excitement about his new role as a host on the Legends Tour. He emphasized the camaraderie and competitiveness of over 50’s golf, stating that he is proud to be a part of it. Montgomerie also praised the growth of the Legends Tour in recent years, particularly since Ryan Howsam’s involvement, and looks forward to hosting the oldest Senior championship in Europe at Trump International Golf Links.

Phil Harrison, CEO of the Legends Tour, highlighted the significance of having Montgomerie as a host for the flagship event, emphasizing his stature in European golf. The Staysure PGA Seniors Championship is expected to feature Major champions and offer a challenging test for the players on the Dr Martin Hawtree-designed course. Sarah Malone, Executive Vice President of Trump International, Scotland, expressed her excitement about hosting the event for the second year and praised Montgomerie as the perfect host for the tournament.

The tournament, scheduled from July 31 to August 4, will showcase the stunning Trump International Golf Links course in Aberdeenshire, offering breathtaking views of the coastline and the North Sea. With a total of 20 tournaments across four continents on the Legends Tour 2024 schedule, golf enthusiasts can expect high-quality competition and a significant prize fund of over €18 million. Tickets for the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship are currently available online at a discounted rate, providing spectators with an opportunity to witness some of the game’s legends in action.

The return of the event to Trump International Golf Links, Scotland, promises a memorable week of golf, with Montgomerie’s presence adding an extra layer of excitement and prestige. As the Legends Tour continues to grow and attract top players, hosting the flagship tournament at such a prestigious venue with a legendary host like Montgomerie adds to the significance of the event. Golf fans can anticipate a thrilling competition and a visually stunning experience at the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship this summer.
