Aidan Tran took his place in the lineup for the remainder of the competition.
Unfortunately, Lamprecht’s hopes of not only winning the individual title but also of earning a PGA Tour card were dashed due to his withdrawal. He was ranked second in the PGA Tour University rankings behind Stanford’s Michael Thorbjornsen, and a win at the tournament could have secured him the coveted PGA Tour card awarded to the top finisher in the rankings after stroke play. However, with his subbing out of the lineup, last-place points were awarded to Lamprecht, allowing Thorbjornsen to claim the card.
Despite missing out on a PGA Tour card, Lamprecht will still receive full status on the Korn Ferry Tour as the second-ranked player in the PGA Tour University standings. However, this injury setback eliminates his chances of guaranteed job status on the PGA Tour. If his back loosens up, Lamprecht may be able to return to the lineup for Georgia Tech on Sunday, though he will not be eligible to compete for the stroke-play title.
In the previous year, Lamprecht played a key role in helping the Yellowjackets reach the match play final against Florida.
