At The Annika, LPGA’s Rose Zhang employs AimPoint for the first time

Rose Zhang, a rising star on the LPGA tour, recently met with AimPoint founder Mark Sweeney to work on improving her putting game. Zhang’s caddie, Olly Brett, suggested the meeting after noticing that Zhang was struggling to hole putts inside 15 feet. Zhang, who currently ranks 91st on the LPGA in putts per green in regulation, was eager to try something new to improve her statistics.

During the second round of The Annika driven by Gainbridge at Pelican, Zhang carded a 2-under 68 to get to 5 under for the tournament. Alexa Pano and Jin Hee Im hold the clubhouse lead at 7 under. Zhang, who dominated amateur golf and won the Cognizant Founder Cup earlier this year, has been on a short-game journey since her father left her putter on a train in London in 2023.

Zhang’s performance on the LPGA tour has been inconsistent this year, but she remains optimistic about her potential to improve. Despite facing new challenges and old recurring issues, Zhang is excited about the progress she has made and the opportunities to get better. Brett, who has been familiar with the AimPoint system for 13 years, carefully gathered statistical evidence before suggesting it to Zhang, who quickly agreed to give it a try.

Zhang’s putting game will be crucial as she navigates the challenges of professional golf. With a record-breaking year at Stanford behind her and her first professional LPGA win under her belt, Zhang is focused on refining her skills and reaching her full potential. The AimPoint system, which helps golfers read putts more effectively, could be the key to improving Zhang’s statistics and boosting her performance on the course.

As Zhang continues to work on her short game and adjust her mindset on the putting green, she is determined to overcome any obstacles that come her way. With the support of her caddie and the guidance of AimPoint founder Mark Sweeney, Zhang is on track to enhance her putting performance and elevate her game to the next level. The future looks bright for this talented young golfer as she strives to become a force to be reckoned with on the LPGA tour.
