Bob Parsons of PXG discusses his new autobiography: ‘No Regrets for Any Decision I’ve Made’

Bob Parsons, the 73-year-old billionaire behind PXG, a successful golf brand, attributes his success to luck and a guardian angel. From selling his company Parsons Technology to Intuit for $50 million to leading GoDaddy.com to a $2.3 billion sale, Parsons has had a remarkable career. Growing up in East Baltimore, serving in Vietnam, and honing his skills as a programmer, Parsons laid the foundation for his entrepreneurial ventures. His autobiography, Fire in the Hole, sheds light on the real man behind the successful businessman persona.

In a recent interview, Parsons discussed his decision to write a book, inspired by his fellow Vietnam War veterans urging him to share his story. Working with co-author Laura Morton, Parsons found the process both challenging and cathartic, especially when reliving traumatic war experiences. Despite the difficulties, he is proud of everything he has accomplished and learned from his mistakes along the way. His relentless work ethic and determination have been key factors in his success.

When it comes to PXG’s success, Parsons attributes it to his attitude as a young person and his experience as an older entrepreneur. He emphasizes the challenges of the golf business and the importance of perseverance in overcoming obstacles. Moreover, Parsons opens up about his battles with PTSD and his journey to finding relief through plant-based psychedelics. By sharing his struggles in the book, he hopes to inspire others facing similar challenges.

Addressing the distance issue in golf, Parsons criticizes the focus on the golf ball rather than the athleticism of the players. He suggests that regulating training and fitness routines may have a more significant impact on the game. While he has no immediate plans to create a conforming ball, Parsons remains open to the possibility in the future. He also highlights a unique rule at Scottsdale National that allows unlimited PXG clubs in a player’s bag, showcasing his innovative approach to golf club regulations.

Overall, Bob Parsons’ life story and entrepreneurial journey serve as inspiration for aspiring business leaders and golf enthusiasts alike. His resilience in the face of adversity, commitment to continual growth, and dedication to helping others navigate their struggles make him a prominent figure in the business world and beyond. By sharing his experiences in his autobiography and interviews, Parsons hopes to leave a lasting impact on future generations and contribute to the ongoing dialogue in the golf industry.
