Explore the New Callaway Quantum Metalwoods: A Leap in Speed Innovation

Jack Hirsh/GOLF

Callaway is making waves in the golf world with its latest Quantum line of drivers, fairway woods, and hybrids. This new lineup promises a significant advancement in speed and performance, marking a pivotal moment for the brand.

What Sets the Callaway Quantum Metalwoods Apart?

The highlight of the Quantum drivers is the innovative Tri-Force Face, constructed from titanium with a carbon fiber backing, all bonded by a high-strength Poly Mesh. This groundbreaking material integration is a first in golf equipment.

Tri-Force: The Science of Speed

The Tri-Force face utilizes titanium on the outer layer and carbon fiber behind it. This combination allows for an optimal transfer of energy during impact. The impact causes compression at the front where titanium excels, while tension is maintained at the back through carbon fiber, which is known for its strength during stretching.

According to Brian Williams, Callaway’s VP of R&D, “During the collision when a ball strikes the face, you’re seeing deflection. The Tri-Force face is built around the idea of managing that deflection.”

This innovative design is not only lightweight but supports greater flexibility and recovery speed, promising maximum ball speeds without sacrificing durability.

Speed Meets Precision

While enhanced speed is the goal, Callaway prioritizes crucial performance variables like forgiveness and spin optimization. The integration of artificial intelligence aids in modeling how these new materials function together. This advanced modeling enables Callaway to adjust spin and launch angles across various areas of the club face, improving overall performance on mis-hits—ensuring consistency in carry distances.
