Callaway’s New Apex Irons: Introducing the Ai200 and Ai300 Models

Callaway has introduced the new Apex Ai200 and Ai300 irons, priced at $200 each with True Temper Dynamic Gold Mid steel shafts or UST Mamiya HDC Recoil Dart graphite shafts and Golf Pride Z grips. These irons are designed for mid- and higher-handicap golfers who want more distance, feel, and consistency from shot to shot. The irons are made with forged 1020 stainless steel bodies, forged 455 stainless steel faces, internal urethane microspheres, and adjustable back weight for customization. The irons will be available for pre-sale on August 15 and in stores on August 23.

The original Apex irons have been popular for their high performance, feel, and classic looks. Callaway first introduced the Apex irons in 2014 and has since continued to update the lineup to include game-improvement features while maintaining classic aesthetics. The introduction of the new Apex Ai200 and Ai300 irons blends Callaway’s technologies and features with the heritage of the Apex family.

Callaway has reorganized the names of the new Apex irons to make it easier for golfers to understand the relationship between each club in the lineup. The larger numbered clubs, such as the Ai300, are more forgiving and focused on distance, while smaller numbered clubs like the Ai200 prioritize feel, precision, and control. The Ai200 and Ai300 feature a forged 1020 carbon steel chassis with a thin, forged 455 Carpenter stainless steel cup face and internal urethane microspheres for enhanced feel and sound at impact.

The faces of the Apex Ai200 and Ai300 irons were designed using artificial intelligence (AI) to optimize distance, spin rates, and launch angle characteristics. The hitting area does not have hot spots or rigid areas, resulting in more consistent performance. An adjustable weight plate on the back of the irons allows for customization of swing weight during fittings. The Ai200 is designed for golfers who compress the ball and prefer a lower initial launch angle, while the Ai300 offers stability on mishits and a higher ball flight.

Both the Ai200 and Ai300 have modern, strong lofts with the Ai300 having a slightly larger body and more forgiveness. Golfers can work with custom fitters to create blended sets of long irons and scoring clubs to suit their preferences. Overall, the new Callaway Apex Ai200 and Ai300 irons offer mid- and higher-handicap golfers the opportunity to improve their distance, feel, and consistency on the course with the latest in golf club technology.
