Cam Young, a 27-year-old golfer, made history at the Travelers Championship by shooting an 11-under 59 in his third round. Young didn’t have the most confidence-inducing warmup before his round, but he managed to make history with his incredible round. Despite not feeling awesome during his warmup, Young made seven birdies and two eagles to become just the 12th golfer to break 60 on the PGA Tour and the second to do so at TPC River Highlands.

During his warmup, Young was simply focused on making solid contact with his shots, rather than thinking about breaking 60. His less-than-perfect warmup routine is relatable to many amateur golfers who struggle with consistency in their game. Despite his lackluster warmup, Young’s round started off strong with birdies on the first two holes and an eagle on the third hole. He continued to play well throughout the round, eventually finishing with his historic score of 59.

Young’s round was a dream start for him, with five birdies in his first four holes. He never thought about breaking 60 during the round but knew he was on track for something special after shooting 28 on the front nine. It wasn’t until he hit a 3-iron to seven feet on the 15th hole and made the eagle putt that the thought of shooting 59 crossed his mind.

Golf is known for its unpredictable nature, and Young’s round exemplified that. From hitting quality shots off the tee to sinking long putts, Young’s round was a mix of skill and luck. His ability to stay focused and capitalize on key opportunities throughout the round helped him achieve the historic feat of breaking 60 on the PGA Tour.

Jack Hirsh, an assistant editor at GOLF, highlighted Young’s incredible achievement and provided insights into his background and journey in the sport. Hirsh shared details about Young’s round and how his performance at the Travelers Championship solidified his place in golf history. Young’s story serves as inspiration for amateur golfers and professionals alike, showcasing the power of determination and skill in achieving success on the course.

Young’s accomplishment at the Travelers Championship will be remembered as one of the most memorable moments in PGA Tour history. His record-breaking round not only showcased his talent and skill as a golfer but also his ability to overcome challenges and perform under pressure. As Young continues his journey in professional golf, he will undoubtedly be remembered as a golfer who made a lasting impact on the sport.
