Hazeltine National in Chaska, Minnesota has unveiled a long-range vision for the club named Vision 2040. The first phase of this plan includes the development of a new short course, putting course, performance center, and more. Love Golf Design, led by Davis Love III, has started construction on a 10-hole, par-3 short course that is set to open in the summer of 2025. Love will also design the putting course, creating an exciting addition to Hazeltine National.

Ranked as the No. 4 private course in Minnesota by Golfweek’s Best and tying for No. 77 among all modern courses in the United States, Hazeltine National’s main 18-hole layout was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in 1962. His son, Rees Jones, renovated the course in 1991. Love Design is also crafting a master plan for the main 18, ensuring the continued excellence of the course for years to come.

Hazeltine National has a rich history of hosting top-tier professional and amateur tournaments, including two U.S. Opens, two PGA Championships, two U.S. Women’s Opens, and the 2019 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. The prestigious KPMG Women’s Championship will return to the club in 2026, showcasing Hazeltine National’s ability to host world-class events. Additionally, the club was the site of the 2016 Ryder Cup, won by the American team under Love’s captaincy, and will host another Ryder Cup in 2029.

Davis Love III expressed his excitement for the developments at Hazeltine National, stating, “It’s an exciting time for Hazeltine, and the future is bright.” Love looks forward to seeing the finished products and teeing it up on the new courses. The addition of the short course and putting course will enhance the club’s offerings, providing members and guests with new and exciting golf experiences.

With a commitment to excellence, Hazeltine National continues to invest in its infrastructure and facilities to offer members and visitors the best possible golf experience. The development of Vision 2040 demonstrates the club’s dedication to innovation and improvement. By partnering with Love Golf Design, Hazeltine National is ensuring that its courses remain at the forefront of the industry for years to come.

As one of the premier golf clubs in Minnesota and the United States, Hazeltine National’s reputation for hosting world-class events is unmatched. From hosting major championships to prestigious tournaments, the club has solidified its place in golf history. With the upcoming developments as part of Vision 2040, Hazeltine National is poised to continue its legacy as a top destination for golfers of all levels. Members and guests can look forward to experiencing the new courses and facilities in the coming years.
