The 2024 Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs have officially begun, with the Dominion Energy Charity Classic marking the start of the PGA Tour Champions postseason. The first tournament saw 72 golfers vying for a spot in the next round. After 54 holes, only 54 players advanced to the Simmons Bank Championship in Little Rock, Arkansas, set to take place from October 25-27.

One of the standout performers at the Dominion Energy Charity Classic was Tim O’Neal, who claimed his first Champions circuit victory with a two-shot win. This victory propelled him from 55th to 13th in the points race, making him one of the biggest movers in the standings. Similarly, David Bransdon climbed from 56th to 35th, while Paul Goydos went from 59th to 48th, securing their spots in the next round of the playoffs.

On the other hand, some players failed to make the cut for the next round, with Chris DiMarco dropping from 51st to 55th, Kirk Triplett falling from 53rd to 56th, and Angel Cabrera slipping from 54th to 59th. Cabrera, initially in the 54th spot, narrowly missed out on advancing, with Michael Wright now occupying the bubble position in the rankings after sliding from 48th but managing to stay in the top 54.

Looking ahead to the season finale at Phoenix Country Club in three weeks, several players have already secured their spots in the top 36. Bransdon, now ranking 35th, is one of them, along with Rod Pampling, who moved from 38th to 33rd. These players, along with O’Neal, are among the notable climbers in the standings. However, Charlie Wi, Steve Allan, and David Toms fell out of the top 36, dropping to 37th, 38th, and 39th, respectively, and will need a strong performance in the upcoming tournament to regain their positions.
