Five Golfers Who Have Withdrawn from the LIV Golf League

The LIV Golf League offers players the opportunity to make millions, but relegation can have a significant impact on their careers. In 2024, five players were officially relegated after finishing in the drop zone of the final standings. However, two of these players, including RangeGoats captain Bubba Watson, managed to stay in the league. The decision to remove relegation from the format has been questioned by many, but players like Kalle Samooja have departed the league following their relegation.

Kalle Samooja, who won the Promotions event in 2023, narrowly missed out on staying in the LIV Golf League after a disappointing finish in the final event in Chicago. The Finnish player will likely return to the DP World Tour or continue on the Asian Tour in the upcoming season. Another player, Kieran Vincent, had a tough campaign despite being part of Jon Rahm’s powerful Legion XIII side that won four team events. Vincent finished 54th in the individual standings and may have to leave the league after failing to secure a spot for the next season.

Scott Vincent, Kieran’s brother and a player in the LIV Golf League since 2022, finished down in 50th place with only two top 20 finishes. He left the IronHeads team and was replaced by Korean prospect Yubin Jang. Eugenio Chacarra, a 24-year-old Spaniard who was with Sergio Garcia’s Fireballs side, was let go after finishing 39th in the standings. Chacarra joined LIV Golf in 2022 as the world’s second-ranked amateur and won the Bangkok Invitational in the inaugural season. It remains uncertain which tour he will compete on in 2025.

Hudson Swafford, an American player who participated in the inaugural LIV event in London, struggled in the 2024 season after missing the previous year due to injury. Despite being a three-time winner, Swafford finished 55th overall and was unable to make the top 30 in any event. Swafford reportedly attempted to return to the PGA Tour but did not receive a response. He may now have to rely on playing the Asian Tour to continue his professional golf career.
