Skill Shot Golf is an online golf app created by childhood friends Marshall Threw and Kevin Reed that allows users to bet on making a hole-in-one on any par-3 hole in the country. Marshall Threw, a Farmington native and co-founder of Skill Shot Golf, has never made a hole-in-one in his life, but now he has created a way for golfers to bet on themselves to achieve this feat. Skill Shot Golf is a unique and innovative way to combine golfing and betting, allowing users to take a shot at winning money by making a hole-in-one.

The idea for Skill Shot Golf came about a year ago when Threw and Reed noticed golf courses offering competitions for hole-in-one attempts. They decided to create an app that would make this concept more accessible to golfers across the country. The app utilizes the camera on users’ phones to film their attempts at par-3 holes, giving them the opportunity to bet on themselves to make a hole-in-one. With over 17,000 golf courses in the US and millions of golfers playing each year, the potential for Skill Shot Golf is vast.

The Skill Shot Golf app allows users to purchase tokens for $5 each, which can be wagered on a hole-in-one attempt. Golfers can bet up to five tokens ($25) on any par-3 hole that meets the app’s criteria. Not all holes qualify for betting, as they must be at least 100 yards long and have a clear line of sight from the tee box to the cup. The app provides detailed instructions on how to film the attempt, ensuring that the process is fair and transparent.

If a golfer successfully makes a hole-in-one on a $5 bet, they can win $1,000, with potential payouts of up to $13,000 depending on the distance and amount bet. Golf betting is legal in 39 states, including Texas, North Carolina, and now Illinois, where Skill Shot Golf has been rolled out. The app has already garnered over 300 downloads and positive feedback from users across the nation.

Threw and Reed, along with their team of collaborators, are continuously looking for ways to enhance the Skill Shot Golf experience. In addition to hole-in-one bets, they hope to introduce additional payouts for hitting the green, coming within a flagstick length of the cup, or landing on the fairway. The app may even expand to include other sports in the future, providing users with a variety of betting opportunities.

Playing with the Skill Shot Golf app adds an element of excitement and pressure to the game, as golfers are on camera and have money on the line. Threw, who has played on prestigious courses around the country, believes that using the app brings a new level of challenge and intensity to the golfing experience. Whether you’re a casual golfer looking for a fun wager or a seasoned pro seeking a unique challenge, Skill Shot Golf offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to test your skills and potentially win big.
