Golfers teetering on the edge of qualification for CME Group Tour Championship

The CME Group Tour Championship is coming up, and only one round remains before the cutoff for the event. The top 60 players on the CME points list at the conclusion of The Annika driven by Gainbridge at Pelican will qualify for the season-ending tournament in Naples, Florida. This year’s CME will take place at Tiburon Golf Club and will offer a purse of $11 million, including a record $4 million winner’s check. Every player in the field will be awarded at least $55,000 at the 72-hole no-cut event. Some players on the bubble include Alexa Pano, Mi Hyang Lee, Gaby Lopez, Carlota Ciganda, Leona Maguire, Ryann O’Toole, Stephanie Kyriacou, Wichanee Meechai, Auston Kim, and Hyo Joo Kim.

Alexa Pano, currently on the bubble in 65th place, is remaining focused on the golf tournament at hand and not thinking about next week’s CME Group Tour Championship. Mi Hyang Lee is currently projected to finish inside the cut line at 57th, despite falling to a share of 17th in The Annika driven by Gainbridge. Gaby Lopez has moved inside the top 10 at The Annika and is projected to finish 56th in the CME points race, starting the week on the outside looking in. Carlota Ciganda is currently projected to finish right on the bubble at 60th, but will need a strong performance in the final round to secure her spot.

Unfortunately, Leona Maguire missed the cut at The Annika and is currently projected to finish 59th, cutting it close to qualifying for the CME. Ryann O’Toole, also missing the cut, is projected at 58th. Stephanie Kyriacou, currently projected to finish 63rd, missed the cut at The Annika when she needed a strong performance to secure her spot in the CME. Wichanee Meechai, who would need a win to get into the CME, currently trails leader Charley Hull by three strokes. Auston Kim is currently T-24 at The Annika and projected to finish 64th in the CME points race. Hyo Joo Kim started the week in good shape but a missed cut has dropped her to 61st in the projections.

As the final round of The Annika driven by Gainbridge approaches, the bubble players are fighting for their spots in the CME Group Tour Championship. These players will need strong performances to solidify their positions in the top 60 of the CME points list and qualify for the season-ending event in Naples, Florida. With the potential for significant prize money and recognition on the line, the pressure is on for these players to perform to the best of their abilities. The outcome of the final round will determine who makes it to the CME and who falls just short of qualifying.
