Medina, NY may not be considered a golf mecca, but it is home to the 2024 Amateur Champion, Melanie Green, known as #QueenMel. She emerged victorious after 36-hole qualifying and six head-to-head matches, winning the final 2-up at Portmarnock. Miss Mel joined the ranks of great USA winners like Babe Zaharias, Louise Suggs, and Kelli Kuehne, showcasing her skill and determination on the course.

Heading into the various tours around the world, we saw exciting golf action unfold. The PGA Tour at Rocket Mortgage in Detroit saw Cam Davis emerge as the champion with a solid performance and a one-shot victory. The US Senior Open at Newport Country Club ended in a playoff with Richard Bland coming out on top. The LPGA Dow Championship showcased Ally Ewing and Jennifer Kupcho dominating the field until Thitikul and Ruoning secured victory at the last hole. Marcel Siem claimed his sixth tour win at the Italian Open, while Max McGreevy won the Korn Ferry Tour event to secure his second title of the season.

The PGA Tour event in Detroit saw unexpected results with low scores missing from the leaderboard and clutch performances being absent down the stretch. Cam Davis managed to close out the tournament with a solid final round and secure the victory, with players like Davis Thompson, Min Woo Lee, Aaron Rai, and Akshay Bhatia finishing tied for second. The US Senior Open at Newport proved to be a thrilling battle between Hiroyuki Fujita and Richard Bland, with Bland ultimately triumphing in the first playoff in the history of the event.

At the LPGA Dow Championship, Thitikul and Ruoning triumphed over the American pair of Ewing and Kupcho to claim victory. The DP World Tour event in Italy saw Marcel Siem stage a comeback with a birdie on the final hole to secure his sixth tour win. On the Korn Ferry Tour, Max McGreevy overcame a late miss on the 17th hole to secure victory with a birdie on the final hole, clinching a PGA Tour card for the 2025 season.

Overall, it was an exciting week in the world of golf with tournaments featuring top players from around the globe showcasing their skills and determination on the course. Fans were treated to thrilling finishes, unexpected outcomes, and impressive performances from both established stars and up-and-coming talents. The diversity and competitiveness of the various tours highlighted the universal appeal of the sport and the passion that golfers bring to the game.
