Callaway recently launched its new Opus and Opus Platinum wedges, which have been spotted in the bags of professional golfers like Jon Rahm, Yuka Saso, and Xander Schauffele. These wedges feature Spin Gen Face Technology, which combines grooves on the face, an offset groove-in-groove design, and a quartz blasted face to provide more spin, especially in rough and wet conditions, and lower launch. The design of the Opus wedges has been refined based on feedback from tour professionals, resulting in a higher toe peak, refined leading edge radius, and smooth hosel transition.

In addition to the standard Opus wedge, Callaway is also introducing the Opus Platinum wedges, which feature 17 grams of tungsten bonded high in the topline for lower launch with more spin. The Platinum wedges also include a proprietary blend of metals in the body of the club for optimum feel and performance. Callaway’s product managers and R&D manager have shared insights into the design process of the Opus wedges, highlighting the focus on shaping and feedback from tour players to create a product that meets the needs of skilled players.

The Opus wedges are available in a range of grinds, including the S and W grinds for standard everyday play, the T grind for open-faced shots, and the C grind for versatile shot-making. The Opus Platinum wedges feature Metal Injection Molding (MiM) construction for precision, better feel, and better dampening compared to other manufacturing methods. The Opus and Opus Platinum wedges are priced at $179.99 and $229.99, respectively, and will be available for pre-sale on 7/19 and at retail on 7/26. The wedges come in various finishes and are equipped with stock True Temper Dynamic Gold MID and UST Recoil DART HDC shafts.

Overall, the Callaway Opus and Opus Platinum wedges represent a combination of art and science in their design, with a focus on spin, feel, and performance for skilled golfers. By incorporating feedback from tour professionals and utilizing innovative technologies like Spin Gen Face Technology and MiM construction, Callaway has created wedges that are tour-tested and tour-validated. The range of grind options and premium finishes make these wedges suitable for a variety of playing styles and preferences, offering golfers a versatile and high-performing option for their short game.
