Every home should have a backyard golf hole, according to Jim Nantz, who built a replica of Pebble Beach’s iconic par-3 seventh hole at his dream home in Pebble Beach. The video of his former CBS partner, Nick Faldo, scoring an ace there during the 2018 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am went viral. Nantz recently moved his family to a suburb of Nashville to spend more time with his wife and children, which also presented him with the opportunity to build another backyard golf hole. He worked with architect Shane Whitcomb to bring his vision of an homage to the 13th hole at Augusta National to life.

The backyard golf hole features five tees, with one located on an elevated platform from a screened-in porch and another across the pool deck, providing a full shot between 55-60 yards. Nantz also plans to add a Comfort Station with a Margarita/Slurpee machine, a Soft-Serve ice cream machine, and a hot dog roller/bun warmer. Additionally, he has a manual scoreboard, directional signs, and outdoor lighting for night play. His friends who have seen the hole are not surprised by his latest project, as Nantz has always had a vision for it.

Nantz’s dedication to bringing his backyard golf hole to life reflects his belief in leadership and vision. He drew inspiration from director Kevin Costner, who taught him that it is about getting everyone involved in the project to see the final vision and bring it to fruition. Nantz meticulously planned every detail of the backyard golf hole, from the lighting to the landscaping, to create a cohesive and visually stunning experience. The completion of the project showcases Nantz’s commitment to excellence and attention to detail.

Much like the Costner hit movie, “Field of Dreams,” Nantz has exceeded expectations with his backyard golf hole. His dedication to replicating iconic golf holes and creating a unique, immersive experience in his backyard is a testament to his passion for the game and commitment to craftsmanship. The backyard golf hole serves as a place for Nantz, his family, and friends to enjoy and appreciate the beauty and excitement of golf in their own backyard. Nantz’s vision and determination have resulted in a remarkable creation that will surely be enjoyed by many for years to come.
