Selena Samuela, a popular fitness instructor, has recently launched a new Peloton program called Strength for Golfers. In this program, she focuses on providing strength training sessions specifically tailored for golfers, without getting into swing mechanics. Samuela recognized the unique fitness demands of golf and wanted to create a program that could help golfers improve their game by enhancing their body functionality in the swing.

Gary Weir, a golfer from Westchester, inspired Samuela to delve deeper into golf-specific fitness by discussing concepts like body swing connection and kinematic sequence. This conversation sparked her interest in the game and motivated her to pursue a golf fitness certification from the Titleist Performance Institute. With her background in coaching strength and a passion for helping athletes achieve results, Samuela saw an opportunity to create a program that could benefit a wide range of golfers.

Peloton, known for its diverse range of fitness classes, had never offered a training program specifically designed for a sport until Strength for Golfers. Samuela’s program consists of seven installments, each focusing on different aspects of a golfer’s physical fitness such as stability, explosive power, and improved range of motion. The sessions vary in length from 10-minute pre-round warmups to 30-minute strength training classes, catering to players of different skill levels and abilities.

While Samuela acknowledges that a professional golfer like Rory McIlroy may not need her program, she believes that players of varying skill levels, from scratch golfers to mid-handicappers, can benefit from Strength for Golfers. Her husband, who is closer to scratch, has already seen positive results from participating in the program, particularly in the mobility classes. Samuela emphasizes the importance of creating realistic and achievable programs that cater to the specific needs of the individuals using them.

For Samuela, coaching strength training for golfers is not just about physical fitness but also about enhancing their overall performance on the course. She is passionate about helping athletes achieve their goals and believes that improving strength and mobility can have a significant impact on a golfer’s swing and overall game. By combining her expertise in fitness coaching with her personal experience as a golfer, Samuela has created a program that aims to address the unique fitness requirements of the sport.

The growing awareness of the importance of fitness in golf has led to an expansion in the field of golf-specific training programs. Samuela’s program on Peloton is just one example of how fitness instructors are recognizing the need to tailor their training to meet the specific needs of golfers. As more players, from amateur enthusiasts to professional athletes, realize the benefits of incorporating strength training into their routines, the demand for specialized programs like Strength for Golfers continues to rise.

In conclusion, Selena Samuela’s Strength for Golfers program on Peloton offers golfers a unique opportunity to enhance their physical fitness and improve their game through targeted strength training sessions. By focusing on key areas such as stability, power, and range of motion, Samuela’s program aims to address the specific fitness demands of golf while catering to players of different skill levels. With the growing recognition of the importance of fitness in golf, programs like Strength for Golfers are helping players of all abilities achieve their goals on the course.
