If Scottie Scheffler Wins FedEx Cup, Ted Scott Could Earn Over $5 Million in 2024

In the world of golf, 2024 has been a groundbreaking year for Scottie Scheffler. With six PGA Tour wins and an Olympic gold medal, he has proven himself to be a dominant force on the course. As the World No.1, Scheffler has earned nearly $30 million in prize money alone, with the potential to increase that total significantly as the season progresses. He is on track to win the FedEx Cup, which carries a prize of $25 million, making him one of the highest-earning players on the tour.

Scheffler’s success on the course extends beyond his own performance to his caddie, Ted Scott. Scott has been by Scheffler’s side for all of his victories, earning bonuses on top of his base salary based on Scheffler’s finishes in tournaments. Typically, caddies receive 10% of the prize money for a tournament win, 7% for a top-10 finish, and 5% for making the cut. With Scheffler’s successful season, Scott could have earned around $2.7 million in bonuses, potentially rising to $5.2 million if Scheffler continues to perform well and wins the FedEx Cup.

In comparison to other top players on different tours, Scott’s potential earnings put him among the highest-earning caddies in the world. For example, Nelly Korda, the leader of the LPGA Tour’s Race to CME Globe, has collected $3,601,630 in 2024, despite winning six times. Even Rory McIlroy, who leads the DP World Tour’s Race to Dubai standings, would be surpassed by Scott’s potential earnings. Scheffler’s exceptional performance in 2024 has put him in contention for Player of the Year, alongside Xander Schauffele, who has also had a remarkable season.

If Schauffele finishes second to Scheffler in the Player of the Year race, his caddie, Austin Kaiser, could potentially earn 7% of the $12.5 million prize money, doubling Scott’s potential earnings. Overall, Scheffler’s success has not only elevated his own status in the golf world but has also provided significant financial rewards for his caddie, Ted Scott. Scott’s bonuses could place him within the top-30 on the PGA Tour money list and 17th on the LIV Golf money list, ahead of players like Patrick Reed and Richard Bland.

As Scheffler continues his impressive season, fans and experts alike are watching to see if he can maintain his momentum and secure the FedEx Cup title. With each tournament win, both Scheffler and Scott are reaping the rewards of their hard work and dedication to the game of golf. The partnership between player and caddie is crucial in achieving success on the tour, and Scheffler and Scott exemplify the teamwork and collaboration necessary to reach the pinnacle of the sport.
