In 2025, 25 LPGA Q-Series Final Qualifying Stage Cards Up for Grabs

The 2024 LPGA Q-Series: Final Qualifying Stage is currently taking place in Mobile, Alabama, with 90 holes over five days determining which golfers will earn status on the LPGA tour in 2025. The top 25 and ties will secure their spots after the five-day event, with a cut to the top 65 and ties following the fourth round. The Falls and the Crossings courses at Magnolia Grove Golf Course are the venues for the competition, providing a challenging test for the participants.

Yu Liu set the pace on Day 1 with an impressive 9-under 62 on the Crossings course, while Isa Gabsa excelled on the Falls course with an 8-under 64. Liu continued her dominance on Day 2, maintaining her lead with a second-round 67 to reach 14 under, seven shots ahead of the rest of the field. Maria Fassi made a significant climb up the leaderboard with a Friday 64, tying for second place at 7 under with four other players.

While the 90-hole tournament may seem grueling, it’s worth noting that the format has been even more demanding in the past. In 2023, golfers had to endure 108 holes over six rounds in six consecutive days, while from 2018 to 2022, it was 144 holes played over two weeks. The event was previously known as Stage III from 2009 to 2017 and followed a format similar to the current one, with 90 holes played over a week.

A significant change this year is the reduction of LPGA tour cards from 50 to 25, as announced by the tour in February. This adjustment aims to provide more access to LPGA tournaments for all golfers who earn LPGA membership from Q-Series while placing greater emphasis on rewarding full-season performance for players in Category 15. Previously, those finishing in the top 45 and ties at LPGA Q-Series would earn LPGA status in Categories 14 or 15. Players who complete all rounds before the cut at LPGA Q-Series will earn Epson Tour status.

The field includes notable players such as Saki Baba, Alena Sharp, Gina Kim, Azahara Munoz, Sarah White, Ana Belac, Pernilla Lindberg, Bronte Law, Latanna Stone, Sophia Popov, and Adela Cernousek. These talented golfers will battle it out over the remaining rounds to secure their spots on the LPGA tour in 2025. The competition promises to be fierce as players compete for a limited number of coveted LPGA cards.
