Why Nobody Has Qualified for a 2025 LIV Golf Card Through the International Series Rankings

The International Series Rankings offer players a chance to secure their playing rights in the 2025 LIV Golf League, with the top spot being highly coveted. Following the conclusion of the PIF Saudi International, no player was able to secure the lucrative spot. Despite a three-way playoff between Joaquin Niemann, Cameron Smith, and Caleb Surratt, it was Niemann who came out on top in the rankings. Niemann is already a member of the 54-hole circuit, so the spot does not pass down to the second-placed player, which would have been Ben Campbell.

Campbell, who was the highest non LIV Golfer in the International Series Rankings, will have to go through the Promotions Event to secure his spot in the League. Eligible players who finished between second and eighth in the International Series rankings secured automatic entry into the second round of this year’s LIV Golf Promotions Event. Additionally, Asian Tour winners and the next 31 eligible players in the top 40 of the rankings earned a spot in the first round of the event.

Niemann narrowly edged out Peter Uihlein by just 14 points in the Rankings, with Campbell and John Catlin finishing third and fourth respectively. Both Uihlein and Catlin are reserves on the LIV Golf League and have featured in multiple events in 2024. It is unclear whether they will be on a LIV Golf League team in 2025. The LIV Golf Promotions Event, where players can earn their spot in the League, will take place between December 12-14.

The Promotions Event has switched from offering three more spots in the League for the subsequent season to only one spot. This means that competition will be fierce as players vie for their chance to compete in the prestigious 2025 LIV Golf League circuit. Stay up to date with all the latest tour news, equipment news, reviews, head-to-heads, and buyer’s guides by subscribing to the Golf Monthly newsletter from a team of experienced experts.

In conclusion, the International Series Rankings have set the stage for an exciting battle for a spot in the 2025 LIV Golf League. Despite Niemann securing the top spot, other players like Campbell, Uihlein, and Catlin will have to compete in the Promotions Event to earn their place in the League. With only one spot up for grabs, the competition will be intense as players strive to showcase their skills and secure their playing rights in the prestigious LIV Golf League for the upcoming season.
