The 2024 U.S. Women’s Open is set to take place at Lancaster Country Club, where the championship logo features a red rose to honor the city of Lancaster’s English roots. Among the favorites to win the tournament is Rose Zhang, a rising star in the world of women’s golf who recently won her second LPGA title at the Cognizant Founders Cup. Ranked 6th in the world, Zhang has expressed her strong desire to claim victory at the U.S. Women’s Open, where she tied for ninth in her first appearance as a professional.

Despite World No. 1 Nelly Korda’s dominance in recent tournaments, many are looking forward to a potential rivalry between Korda and Zhang. With Korda’s six wins in her last seven starts, a friendly competition between the two talented players could bring a new level of excitement to the women’s golf scene. Zhang, who made history by winning the LPGA in her pro debut, has spoken highly of Korda’s impressive performances and sees her as a source of inspiration for her own game.

Growing up, Golf Channel analyst Paige Mackenzie recalls the days when fans had to choose between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson as their favorite players. With the unique styles and personalities of Korda and Zhang, Mackenzie believes that there is enough distinction between the two players to attract different types of fans. As veteran players like Lexi Thompson consider retirement, the LPGA could benefit from a compelling rivalry between two young talents like Korda and Zhang.

Zhang’s poised and composed demeanor on the golf course has caught the attention of many, including Mackenzie, who watched her play in various tournaments before turning professional. With a strong focus on her game and a maturity beyond her years, Zhang has shown great potential for success in the sport. After her recent victory at the Founders Cup, Zhang attributed her performance to her deepened faith and growth as a person since attending Stanford University.

As a student at Stanford, Zhang is committed to finishing her degree while pursuing her career in professional golf. Her faith has played a significant role in her personal development and mindset on the course, helping her to stay grounded and patient during intense competitions. With a strong spirit and mentality, Zhang is well-suited for the challenges of the U.S. Women’s Open, where she hopes to continue her success and make a name for herself in the world of women’s golf.
