Jeeno Thitikul secured a $4 million payday by winning the LPGA’s season-ending CME Group Tour Championship. Angel Yin initially had a strong lead in the tournament, but Thitikul, a former World No. 1, caught up to her on the final holes of the competition. Thitikul’s impressive performance on the 17th and 18th holes, where she made an eagle and birdie, respectively, sealed the victory for her. This win marked Thitikul’s second victory of the season and her first individual win on the LPGA Tour since her Rookie of the Year campaign in 2022.

Despite starting the weekend four shots behind Yin, Thitikul made a strong comeback on Saturday and eventually took the lead early on Sunday. Yin, who seemed to be pulling away on the back nine with multiple birdies, missed a crucial opportunity on the 17th hole, allowing Thitikul to secure the victory. Thitikul not only claimed the $4 million first-place prize but also won an additional $1 million for winning the season-long Aon Risk Reward Challenge, solidifying her earnings for the week at $5 million. This amount nearly matched Thitikul’s career earnings entering the tournament and surpassed the season-long earnings of top players like Nelly Korda.

Thitikul’s victory at the CME Group Tour Championship and her impressive performance throughout the season showcased her talent and determination as a top player on the LPGA Tour. Her ability to handle pressure situations and deliver crucial shots in critical moments highlighted her competitive spirit and skill as a golfer. Winning multiple LPGA titles, including the Vare Trophy for the LPGA scoring title in 2023, Thitikul has proven herself as a formidable competitor on the tour.

The significance of the $4 million prize for winning the CME Group Tour Championship underscores the growing prestige and financial rewards in women’s golf. Thitikul’s historic win and substantial earnings demonstrate the increasing opportunities for female golfers to compete at the highest level and reap significant rewards for their success. With sponsors like Aon supporting additional prize challenges, the financial incentives for players like Thitikul continue to elevate the stakes and competitiveness in women’s golf.

Thitikul’s victory at the season-ending event and her impressive earnings reflect the ongoing evolution and progress of women’s golf on the professional circuit. The achievement of securing such a substantial payday and additional rewards for winning challenges like the Aon Risk Reward Challenge highlights the dedication and skill of players like Thitikul who continue to push the boundaries of success in the sport. As the LPGA Tour continues to gain recognition and support, opportunities for female golfers to excel and earn significant rewards will only continue to grow in the future.
