LIV Golf’s Joaquin Niemann and PGA Tour player Nicolai Hojgaard have accepted special invitations to The 2025 Masters. Niemann failed to qualify through traditional means after moving to the PIF-backed circuit in 2024 and received an invite alongside Thorbjorn Olesen and Ryo Hisatsune. This will be Niemann’s fifth consecutive appearance at Augusta National Golf Club, while Hojgaard is set to return for the second time in his career after missing the top-50 mark and receiving a personal invitation from chairman Fred Ridley. Both players have been recognized for their talent and global impact on the game of golf.

Augusta National Golf Club chairman Fred Ridley announced the invitations of Niemann and Hojgaard, emphasizing the tradition of inviting deserving international players to compete in The Masters. Niemann, currently ranked 71st in the Official World Golf Ranking, enjoyed a successful 2024 season with two LIV Golf wins and a T9th finish at the Olympic Games. Hojgaard also had a notable season, including a T7th finish at the Olympics and five consecutive top-25 results on the DP World Tour. Both players have shown their ability to compete at the highest level and will be looking to make their mark at the prestigious tournament.

Niemann is expected to make his sixth Masters appearance, with a best result of T16th in 2023. Hojgaard matched that result on his debut last season and will be aiming to build on that success in 2025. The Danish player’s season also included an excellent finish at the Olympics and strong performances on the DP World Tour. With his twin brother Rasmus also making his debut at The Masters this year, the Hojgaard brothers have the opportunity to make history as the first pair of twins to compete in the tournament.

As of today, 87 players have been invited to compete in the 2025 Masters, with Niemann and Hojgaard among the international players receiving special invitations. Both players have showcased their talent on a global scale and have earned their spots in the prestigious tournament. Niemann’s success in the LIV Golf League and Hojgaard’s strong performances on the PGA Tour have caught the attention of the Augusta National Golf Club, leading to their invitations to The Masters.

The 2025 Masters Tournament promises to be an exciting event with players like Niemann and Hojgaard in the mix. Fans can expect to see some top-notch golf from these talented athletes as they compete against the best in the world. With the history and tradition of the tournament, players like Niemann and Hojgaard have the opportunity to leave their mark on the sport and etch their names in golf history. Stay tuned to see how these two international talents fare at Augusta National Golf Club in April.
