John Wood, a veteran PGA Tour caddie and NBC Sports reporter, has been announced as the new Team Manager for the U.S. Ryder Cup team for the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black. Wood will work closely with the captains, players, and PGA of America management team to provide guidance in player selection, recruitment, motivational strategies, logistical coordination, and fostering a positive team environment.

Wood expressed his passion for the Ryder Cup, stating that there is nothing in his professional career that he has been more passionate about than the Ryder Cup. Having been a part of six Ryder Cup teams as a caddie and two as an on-course reporter for NBC Sports, Wood views this new role as a dream job and is honored to work with the PGA of America to help prepare the U.S. team for one of the greatest sporting events in the world.

With his extensive experience as a PGA Tour caddie and assistant captain for the U.S. team at the 2018 Ryder Cup, Wood brings a deep understanding of match play dynamics and international team competitions. PGA of America CEO Seth Waugh praised Wood’s passion, dedication, and experience, stating that his appointment as Team Manager will be a tremendous asset in creating a strategic plan for success at future Ryder Cups.

While Wood’s new role as Team Manager has been announced, the big question that remains unanswered is who will be the U.S. captain for the 2025 Ryder Cup. Tiger Woods has been rumored as a top choice for the prestigious role, but concerns about his busy schedule have raised doubts about his ability to fulfill the captain’s duties. It is unclear if Wood’s role as Team Manager would make it easier for Woods to take on the captaincy.

As managing producer for GOLF.com, Kevin Cunningham oversees the publication of stories, newsletters, and new products for the brand. Cunningham works with the editorial team to deliver engaging content to the audience, including news-breaking stories, service content, and innovative ways to enhance the site for readers. With over 1.4 million subscribers each month, GOLF.com aims to provide comprehensive coverage of the golf world.

In conclusion, the appointment of John Wood as the new Team Manager for the U.S. Ryder Cup team brings a wealth of experience and passion to the role. With his background as a caddie, assistant captain, and on-course reporter, Wood is well-prepared to guide the team towards success at the 2025 Ryder Cup. While the captaincy remains undecided, Wood’s presence as Team Manager will undoubtedly be a valuable asset in preparing the U.S. team for one of the most prestigious events in the world of golf.
